Well, we've reached the tipping point under Jimbo Fisher

A coach who had recruited at a lesser level would be done after last year and the start to this season. Jimbo has the talent that he's not a dead man walking just yet, but if this season falls apart and you finish 6-6 or worse there will be lots of transfers and recruiting will take a major hit. And at that point he would definitely be done.
I think it obviously starts with a QB change and movement along the OL. No coach is going to put together a good offense with a QB and OL playing like this. Haynes King had a couple wide open throws perfectly set up for him to win the game today and couldnt hit them. But beyond that Jimbo MUST start getting more input from Dickey and implementing more modern RPO concepts and less west coach passing game and zone blocking. And ultimately I think this offseason he needs to seriously evaluate if he can continue to be a primary playcaller.

We all already know the answer, he’s the only one that can’t see the obvious at this point.
It’s year 5 so this is his entire program, obviously not a good look to lose to a team like App st. I don’t know that even 6-6 with a mediocre recruiting finish gets him fired after this year, but it makes his seat next year screaming hot.
There’s already lots of memes comparing him to Sumlin as they basically have the same record 50 games in. It was pretty obvious that Sumlin’s program was declining and his best seasons were his first with all of Sherman’s players. I wouldn’t say that the program is declining under Fisher, but it’s just treading water. We aren’t getting better, we aren’t building a winning culture, and he’s not being paid to tread water, he’s being paid to win.

Just to recap where things stand
1. Jimbo picked a new QB coach for 2022 and our QB play to begin the season has been really bad
2. Jimbo picked a new OL coach for 2022 and our OL play to begin the season has been even worse
3. Jimbo picked a new TE coach for 2022 and our TEs are non-existent
4. Jimbo picked a new DC for 2022 and that DC couldn't figure out how to get off the field
5. Our current OC has an $85 million buyout
I hate being a pessimist, but I don't see us ever getting a product commensurate with the money invested in the current regime

I don’t think the issue is necessarily that he can’t, though he probably shouldn’t. He’s clearly proven capable of going balls out when he wants to. He just can’t bring himself to fully embrace modern offense, which is perplexing given every time he pulls out a RPO heavy scheme in big games it looks really good.
He just seems so conservative at heart and wants to just bludgeon lesser teams to death.

We know how this ends, the question is when. End of this year? End of next year? We are never winning anything under him, unlikely we get back to 2020 level. So it’s a question of when the powers that be think it’s right to rip the band aid off.
My guess is we finish 7-5 or so this year, similar type next year and he’s fired next season.

My question is, where do we go if/when we move on from him?

For me, this is why the best scenario by far is that Jimbo gets it figured out. 100% agree with the title of this thread, though.

Who are the 6 wins you see after what we saw yesterday?

Serious question. Would the powers that be, really pay that much to make him walk ? I am not a fan of guaranteed money for coaches. IMO, there should be some sort of merit stipulation in a coach's contract. O wins a natty then smokes LSU for a substantial buyout because of his ineptness. I know sports isn't real life, but c'mon.

Nope.
They wouldn't do it for Fran or Sumlin on smaller deals so they for damn sure aren't going to do it for the massive deal they gave Jimbo. The BMAs refusing to cut bait b/c of the guaranteed money was the biggest reason I was against giving him the moon in the first place.
We are going to be stuck in sunk cost fallacy hell for the next 2-3 seasons at minimum.

We are having to rely on way too many underclassmen with little to no substantive game experience this year. I knew we lost a lot of upperclassmen after last year but was surprised when I counted the number of juniors/seniors actually starting on offense and defense.
Even though Foster is an underclassman, we need him back to stabilize the interior of the OLine with his full season of playing experience from last year. We also had bad luck that Robinson is already nicked up and we don't have an experienced TE that is ready to play. Wright will not be a world beater as a receiver but he probably would have helped out a lot with the run game.
I agree that Fisher needs to be ready to pull King next week if he is missing wide open throws. Hopefully we can provide at least decent pass protection for Johnson after getting 2 games in with the current OLine group.

More likely we keep him for 3-5 more seasons, possibly give him an extension, and end up firing him after back to back losses to Texas and LSU.

Excuse me, because I don't see it, but if this is true, OC being (offensive coordinator?), that's a hell of a lot of money. Is this even possible?

If Jimbo lays an egg this season and next, he'll be gone. My guess is the team will improve in some ways this year. We don't have a QB who can handle the pressure yet. That's what I watch for in the first game of every season. Does the QB look good?
What is this, the third year that Jimbo does not have the team ready to play at the start of a season?
By the way, Max Johnson has experience starting in the SEC. I suspect he will start very soon.

The joke is Jimbo is the offensive coordinator. Whichever assistant has that title is just a title. Jimbo calls the plays.

Agreed. Zero chance we keep him 3+ years if we have a bad season this year and next. If we go 6-6 or 7-5 this year and something similar, even 8-4 next, he will be gone. They will find the money and hire someone new.
Y’all underestimate how much money some of these donors have and their desire to finally have a good football team.
As cringy as it was, there was a reason they gave him the stupid national championship trophy with the 20–, and it’s not to go 8-4 or worse 3 seasons in a row.
