and if you want to use the public as leverage in a business negotiation, you've invited it on yourself for better or worse.

Also, if you want to make a decision without 95% of the message board and twitter BS that comes with NSD and the build up to it.... make a committment a month or two before before things really heat up.
Fans aren't really the problem. Until ESPN starting sticking a microphone in front of kids on signing day most fans were basically in the dark when it came to recruiting. ESPN started this and the pay sites/forums picked up the ball and ran with it.

Holy shite, when did every poster on tArk start posting like agressor?
We need to cut down on the LSU fan lurking. We need some space to make our trolling plans for next year.

Folks will say, "I'm just trollin' you, man. It's the SECr--that's what you're supposed to do here."
Hogwash.
You know I had a good conversation with LSU fans there the other day:

It can be done, and I learned a lot. I don't any platform except 4chan is designed for trolling. But a gun doesn't want to murder people either.
This is one place I believe strongly in personal responsibility.

I was going to post the USA today article from today about how Kevin Murray hates this part of our fan base but it seems like you covered it well.

The part about we don't care about his son?
I would object but the baseball of that article made my heart jump so I am guilty.

The problem isn't TexAgs or Twitter. The problem is anonymity.
Absolutely agree. People are loathe to attach their real name to vitriol when they spew it, but quick to do so when there's little chance of their words being traced back to them.
Fascinating, really.

If he gets drafted first round he needs to go, even if it sucks for us.

To make the fanbase that has worshipped you for 30 years believe you were going to completely frick over the program days before signing day is just exceptionally poor form. Do that shite in September, not January. Not to mention that the mere act of visiting and entertaining Texas probably cost us a couple of recruits.
Not to single you out in a bad way, but this is what I'm talking about. Are you seriously willing to tell that same thing to Mr. Murray's face? They did absolutely NOTHING wrong. They looked out for their best interest and that's it. Fans be damned.
And why would he have 'fricked' over this program? At what point did we put one single recruit in charge of our entire recruiting class? Its not Kyler's responsibility to hold this class together, that's Sumlin's job. I don't blame Kyler and his dad for exploring their options and I actually applaud them for looking out for their best interests. The Murrays don't owe anything to our fan base. Period. I don't care if they had taken a visit the day before NSD to Texas. It is their life and future they are trying to figure out here and they should be given the space to do so.
This WASN'T a dick move in their part. It was a responsible move. They have the right to do their due diligence, even if they are committed to a certain program or not since in this day and age, coaching changes are imminent (just ask the UCLA defensive signees).

meh, I don't have any problem with him looking around before he made the biggest decision of his life, on the other hand, to act all shocked and disgusted by the fanbases reaction to a tweet that they had to know would stir shite up is bullshite. just my opinion

SHORT VERSION: I absolutely agree that fans on social media have become a problem. Were I a TexAgs mod, I'd have been deleting and banning left and right throughout the recruiting season.
LONG VERSION:
Top recruits are going to explore their options and some will enjoy the attention. It's silly to expect otherwise. But we should be able to expect better from grown arse adult fans.
Part of the problem is that many TexAgs posters are just not very media savvy. They don't understand news cycles, and they don't understand the differences between social media and traditional news outlets. They expect breaking news every single day, and react to harmless tweets between teenagers as if they were Pearl Harbor headlines.
Worse, they don't understand - or care - that TexAgs has become a one stop shop for Aggie fan opinions, as someone else put it. Many folks seem dumb enough to think that it's some sort of insiders only/local CS website. In reality, Looch appears on radio stations all over the state and sometimes nationally. Recruits, parents, reporters and rivals go there for fan opinion.
This was the most emotional and hyperbolic recruiting season I've seen since I started messing around on fan boards in the mid 90's. Zoo posters are still attacking Kyler and Kevin, including creepy weird psychological assessments of Kyler's upbringing.
We can blame ESPN and the recruits, but there's no excuse for creepy old dudes stalking teenage boys on Twitter and making personal attacks from behind the shield of anonymity.
Just act like adults, and this shite won't ruin your day.

attaboy.
And another damn thing - I don't get all the angst over the tu jersey. If I was a 17-yr old not currently enrolled anywhere and the sips showed me a jersey with my number on it, you're darn right I'd post a picture of it. My distaste for the sips aside, that was pretty cool.

Finest, Kyler in a sip jersey was not pretty cool. It caused me to blow ham-chunks (something you are familiar with, btw).

Social media is a fact of life now and the anonymity it provides turns many people into Billy Bad arse who talk a lot of shite they can't back up. There really is no solution to the problem. If a recruit is going to be on social media they gonna have to develop thick skin. The fans do need to think before they post but we all know that's not gonna happen. So guess what someone is always gonna be pissed off. Life sucks then you die.
