Not to make this an Astros thread but real quick how do you feel about giving up Gilbert? Seems like we’re committing pretty hard to McCormick and (hopefully) extending Tucker

We have a bunch of organizational depth in the OF in the minors. Guys like Barber, Melton, Loperfido, Corona, Gomez, & the big name to watch is Baez. I am okay with losing Gilbert. I think his ceiling was somewhat limited.

I am actually more upset we lost Ryan Clifford. I think he has the potential to absolutely mash if he continues to develop. At only 19 he is destroying A ball.

Look at our OF
LF Alvarez (~50% of the time) - FA in 2029
CF McCormick - FA in 2027
RF Tucker - FA in 2026

I feel like we got the injury bug out of the teams system in the first half of the season and look at them. They’re within striking distance.

Fisher rotating the QB's once again. Weigman needs the reps, and I really wish Fisher would just name him so we can move on with this. Nobody believes that Johnson is going to be the starter.

He isn't fooling anyone.

Agreed. Would be extremely concerning if it actually is a tight race. Weigman absolutely proved his ceiling is much higher last season.

Is the thinking to give Max reps to not run him off so fast?

OK, what is the deal with the helmet covers?

They're called Guardian Caps. The premise is simple. Put extra padding around players' heads to lessen the impact of blows to the helmet, in hopes of further reducing concussions and other negative impacts of on-field collisions.

Interesting

Definitely no excuse for head injuries during practice

That’s what I think it is. Jimbo is real weird about out right naming a guy cause he doesn’t want his backup to transfer.
Also it’s not a surprise at all that he’s rotating them early in camp.

This would be Bobby’s decision no? He’s in charge of the offense now.

Petrino calls plays. It definitely won't be his decision who the QB is. You do know Fisher, right?

Jimbo said Bobby controls the offense. If Bobby doesn't get the pick the QB he doesn't run the offense. Simple as that.

I’ve got a good feeling about this year. Nothing to support it but a good feeling.

Last year I knew we were coming in way over reared. This year feels like quiet confidence.

Yeah that presser was fantastic for the koolaid. Loved what Petrino had to say, Durkin as well. I think if anyone had doubts about who’s calling plays, we know for sure now
