Tate Martell has decided to reopen his recruitment process. Tweeted at 10:30 tonight.

It's times like these I'm glad I have a roommate named Paul. Now I just walk into the other room and say "We fricked Pawl."

Our program has been toxic for a while now, I don't blame him.

As bad as 2016 could potentially be, 2017 is shaping up to be a nightmare. We'll be starting Hubenak or Starkel and lose most of our defensive talent.

I don't disagree. Only reason I think it's shitty is because he opened his mouth as everything was happening a few months ago and reassured everyone he would be coming to Cstat. Talking about graduating early and all that BS. Don't get our hopes up like that if you aren't 100%.

That was before we got rid of Spav, hired Mazzone and Sumlin stopped talking to him.

Mazzone didn't think he fit his system and the $5 million brain trust just decided we're good enough to get selective with five star QBs.

Didn't think about it that way. If what you're saying is true, then Sumlin has some big balls and an even bigger head. Hope it works out for him. I'm not on the "fire Sumlin" train yet, but if he doesn't turn it around soon he won't have much support from anyone.

His demise is inevitable, even if he were a good coach (and he isn't) he simply wont be able to survive 2017. That's gonna be a legit 3-9/4-8 type of campaign.

Not surprised.

2017 would be an Allen/Murray 2.0 type controversy with him on campus that Sumlin would most likely screw up

Took him long enough. We knew he wasn't coming here. I am kinda glad. Summy would have fricked it up.

No more of these Prima Donnas or Pre-Madonnas or whatever you call them.

Nailed it. A lot of talent will be gone, and we will yet again have a first year starter, unless knight is terrible/gets hurt this year and hubenak comes in. Either way it's going to be a brutal year.

I feel bad for the new coach of that squad, because my preseason prediction has us winning 5 games this year, with a possible max of 7. :lol. And if it does play out that way and sumlin survives it I'll quit aggie football.

But more to the point of this thread, I'm just not that bummed about Tate Martell. Maybe it's because I haven't watched enough of his highlights, or that o just don't know much about him or the fact that I never really felt like a kid from bishop Gorman was going to end up at a&m. I don't know really, but I'd be a lot more pissed about losing a commit from a 5* linebacker...if we ever had one.

I honestly don't think it really had much to do with the coaches. This is the second school he has decommitted from so far...

Martell was doing his best to bring kids from his "high school" and other "elite" recruits to A&M, but the West coast kids just didn't want to come to A&M.

Haskell Garrett committed to Ohio State and Bubba Bolden committed to USC. His "brother", Tyjon Linsey, moved back to CA and didn't want to come to A&M either. If Martell wants to follow Linsey, Spavital, or go to tOSU his window is closing and he needed to decommit again soon.

Around Kyle Allen's 14 or 15th consecutive incomplete pass I had no fricks left to give for our football program

I am pretty excited about this season. I feel like the combo of Miles, Turner, Knight and Chavis will surprise people. We always do our best when the expectations are low.

I am a little worried that when we have a good year we will be tempted to throw around more hard-to-buy-out extensions when it's pretty obvious Sumlin's program will be out of road come the 2017 season. Hopefully by January 2018 there is some new supercoach on the market that isn't at UH so that way we have something else to look forward to., but that only happens if we keep our powder dry after this season.
