Arizona State appears to be bad...really bad. Like 5th in the Pac-12 South bad.

Tied with an FCS school in the 4th last week and getting outgained by New Mexico (3-9 ladt year) tonight.

Yuck

At least their defense looks decent, but man, Bercovici and the o-line are dogs.

It's not a secret. One game doesn't mean much, but two in a row is a smoking gun.

Yep, I still think this aggie team is an 8 win team (before bowl). With a +/- 1 game swing.

They weren't really that great last season either.

Let's closely examine their 10 wins:

Weber State (FCS)
New Mexico (4-8)
Colorado (2-10)
USC (9-4)
Stanford (8-5)
Washington (8-6)
Utah (9-4)
Notre Dame (8-5)
Washington State (3-9)
Duke (9-4)

They lost to UCLA (10-3), Arizona (10-4), and Oregon State (5-7)

This year, they replace Stanford with Cal, and Oregon State with Oregon, likely turning a 7-8 win season into a 5 win season.

As I type this, Bercovici connects for a 93-yard TD to put ASU up 31-10.

They're definitely not that great, but we still beat them by 3 TDs and gave up less than 20 points. Don't really care who we play, if we give up less than 20 points, I feel much better about things after last year.

Yep, and ASU winning 34-10 makes the thread moot anyway.

Many Aggies are understandably gunshy after last year's big start, but the big start is about all the two teams have in common.

ESPN will still hold onto the Pac12 South being tied for the best division. Bunch of cocksuckers they are. Regardless, you guys had an impressive victory over them

They're not a top 20 team like the were ranked preseason, but they'll likely be a middle of the back 7-9 win team which is still a nice win. Its not like it was a nail biter. We pulled away after looking really sloppy.

I still think we are two weeks away from getting any type of true context

I'm not sure that it's a "secret" that Arizona State is not a great team. The Ags exposed them in the opening game and showed their playoff hype to be just that.

Their passing game is just not what it was last year. I guess Jaelen Strong had alot to do with that.

Eh, they're bad but I looked at that game not for the score but the mentality of going into a big game on defense.

We did more damage to them than we did to any Div II/FCS opponent in the last 2 years.

We are going to give up big plays on offense there's no way we improved to a top 10 defense overnight. But defense is improved and their defense was a quality test for our offense.

I think they also have a good running back who was diagnosed with mononucleosis on the eve of our game. No idea when he is expected to return.

It is not a secret

Every year the PAC comes up with a flavor of the month they hype as the next thing to sliced bread. This year it was the Sun Devils in the rotation and just like the past they will burst into a ball of flames by the seasons end.

I have been playing the Sun Devil win down from the start just because of this.

that sounds about right.

i was thinking 9 wins before bowl game.

wins

asu
ballst
nevada
sc
vandy
wku

split 3-3

ark
msstate
bama
om
auburn
lsu

i think arky, state and auburn are there for the taking.

if we can beat the teams we should and take one from bama, om and lsu we could have a ten win season before bowl games.

i think we need to go 9-3 to keep recruiting up this year. have momentum for next year.

This is where I come down on it.

I mean, we gave up 28 to what turned out to be a very bad SC game last year. And it should have been 35 if not for Armani Watts' hit.

Defense is something that can be replicated more easily week to week than O, and Chavis' D set the tone. Got to build off of that, though.

I said 9-3 before the year and I haven't changed my tune yet. That said I hate playing the transitive property game. It would be much more concerning if they had lost one of these games
