I don't think you're going to have to worry about boycotting games, nobody shows up as it is. I figured hyman would make a move based on attendance alone. I guess he doesn't mind a shitty product.

I'm extremely butthurt by Auburn getting Pearl.
I'm not saying we'd have beat Auburn for Pearl, but we'll never know because Hyman DIDN'T TRY because he didn't even WANT to!
Hyman made 0 effort and will have an empty arena next year. The guy just does not get it!
The butthurt is flowing right through me tonight.
Pearl ended his first presser with "I'm baaaaaack!" You can bet your arse after that they'll have a full gym.

They damn well better have a full gym and make the tourney in year one with him starting at $2.2 million per year w/an automatic $100k raise each season

I kinda get no Pearl. We refuse character risks for coaches.
But there are other options, especially if freaking the freaking Florida community college gets Buzz.

I actually will lose it if buzz goes to another school, and hyman didn't make a move.

I would actually chase Jeff Van Gundy again if Kennedy can't turn it around.
I think he could do the same thing Larry Brown has done for SMU basketball. It's going to take more than a good coach to truly make recruits take notice of Aggie basketball.

Infinitely better chance than most are giving them here.

Didn't Jeff give us the "Lol, no" treatment last time? It seems like unless you crazy overpay its hard to get ex-NBA guys.
What kills me today is I realized I would be pretty excited to be playing in the NIT.

Looks like we are gonna end up moving on to round 2 of this extremely prestigious tournament...

That's a preview of next year's season average.

The attendance is so much lower because the season ticket holders aren't automatically counted. How unbelievably obvious is it that BK has lost the fanbase? I have a hard time believing Hyman wants to furth destroy what's left our basketball program even if BK is poised to improve next year.
Its similar to Matt Schaub & the Houston fanbase. He is still a better QB than anyone else on the roster and probably still better than someone like Sanchez, Mallet, Fitzpatrick, & Freeman (all FAs), but he's lost the fanbase and is going to eventually hurt attendance and the moral of the city.
Time to move on.

To be fair, they didn't announce it. I'm a current student and had no idea it was at Reed Arena...Or that it was free.

Sounds like another example of Hyman and the athletic department doing a stellar job.

I wouldnt have expected a huge crowd even if they advertised it better. It was an opening round CBI game. Hardly any of the games in the non NCAA tourneys have huge turnouts round one.
Considering A&M has never really had much of a hardcore basketball following why would you expect a huge turnout for what is essentially the New Mexico Bowl when even the serious basketball fans were shitting on it?

There's a difference between a huge crowd and what showed up tonight. Considering all the promotions and that it was a CBI game:
10k=fantastic turnout/huge crowd
8k=very good turnout
6k=good turnout
4k=disappointing turnout
2300=loltastic pathetic turnout.
Changing the subject a bit, I have mixed feelings about the CBI. On one hand, I don't mind it because I feel like we need the extra practice. But on the other hand the "reward the team" line passed around was a joke. Quite honestly, they don't deserve a reward. If they wanted to play in the postseason, they should have doubled down on their effort and closed out Miss St & Vandy on the road instead of turning the ball over in new, inventive ways and playing matador defense in the final few minutes. They should have bothered to show up for the UNT, Auburn, and Vandy games in Reed. They shouldn't have lost to SCar by 28. Play hard in those 5 games and win them (ignoring the SCar loss because SCar really did play a lot of teams tough in Columbia) and we would probably be in the NIT right now and would have earned the postseason. Instead we're in this tournament that amounts to the NCAAB version of a participation ribbon.
I love the ags, but you have to hold them accountable for their actions. In this case, that's letting them sit at home while everyone else continues to play. I've been watching basketball for 20+ years and I know what sandbagging looks like. This A&M team sandbagged it for long stretches of at least 1/3 of our games. That's not really debatable. North Texas has rec-league talent. Not a single player on their team would make ours. They just don't have the athleticism to guard us. Annnd they ran us the frick out of our own gym. That's inexcusable. If we had driven the rim every damn play, they would have had to foul us over and over to prevent buckets. But driving the rim is hard work so we settled for 18 3pters and a bunch of jump shots (out of 50 total shots), and ended up with 41pts against UNT in our own gym. Vanderbilt showed up to Reed with 7 scholarship players and again we were timid and shot jumpers instead of driving the hoop.
If that's how they're gonna play, our team doesn't "deserve" anything.
So I have mixed feelings. While I like getting them extra practice, I don't like rewarding them for what was a disappointing season.
