You must’ve really wanted Petrino to replace Sumlin

I am fairly surprised the NCAA passed on an A&M/tu match up.

Looking at Providence's roster their top two rebounders are 6'8" 225 (Rodney) and 6'7" 215 (Alpha). Rodney also averages 1 block per game. They're also #1 and #2 on the team in scoring. If its any type of an inside game then I think Davis & Williams are going to eat their lunch.

How the hell do you have wins over 1 Seed Xavier & 1 Seed Nova, but losses to 15-17 Minnesota, 13-20 UMass, & 11-20 DePaul?

It's a pretty big draw in any of the big 3.

Why do you think we/they sell out on a Tuesday night for baseball? Why do you think the Reckling Field attendance record is a game not involving Rice? Do you not remember all the foregone conclusions 2 years ago that we'd meet in round two. They just forgot to win.

i absolutely think its a big draw for the individual A&M and UT fanbases. however, i dont think the NCAA tournament really cares so much about the overall national draw that would be an A&M and UT basketball game because no one outside of the state of texas cares about either basketball program. hell, people in the state barely care as it is. football is one thing, and i wouldnt be surprised that they force us into a bowl game the very next time we have similar records, but neither A&M or UT is a nationally prominent basketball program that would actually bring large enough amount of people to care about a round of 32 game that might even be played at like noon in a 2/3rds empty arena 2000 miles away from either campus to make it worth their trouble to force a matchup

would you go out of your way to watch a nebraska/OU round of 32 game when you would not have done so otherwise? i doubt it. the ratings and attention would most likely be the same if nebraska or OU played any other school in the country

They tried 2 years ago and t.u. threw the game at the buzzer so they wouldn't have to face us.

they didnt "try" anything. we had a resume of a 3 seed and they had a resume of a 7 seed and we got paired. if thats what you want to talk about when it comes to manipulating the bracket then fine, id grant that, but that was never happening this year because both schools were in similar ranges this year

and if anything, we probably happened to benefit from the tournament doing that exact thing but wanting to force UK and indiana for the round of 32 that year. most people thought UK was getting the 3 seed we got

They could have moved them up a seed (like they did in 2016) and moved us down a seed for an 8-9 matchup.

they moved us a seed up in 2016. and if anything, that was to get the UK/indiana matchup in the round of 32 since we pretty much took UK's 3 seed

like WCA said, it wouldnt result in a bigger draw unless it were played played in dallas, and they won't give an 8/9 or 7/10 seed that advantage over a 1/2 seed.

The problem with this is banking on us consistently pound the ball inside instead of jacking up horrible contested 3 after horrible contested 3

I promise you a A&M/tu match up would outdraw a A&M/Providence or tu/Nevada one.

I’m sure they had their reasons. I haven’t studied that bracket more than a minute.

A&M vs tu in Dallas would have been wild

Yes, and it would have been a one-off.

That's why last year, they were counting on a 2nd round matchup to keep Aggies and t-sips there longer.
