What is it with these clowns and the unnecessary drama? And how is it that they're still in business?? All the information they "create" is out within minutes on Twitter. Hell, most of the time insider info lands on their own free message boards as well.
It initially started in the 80s/early 90s when sports media types in the south noticed that the sale of newspapers and sports sections spiked around national signing day when national, player and team recruiting rankings were published.
Over time it has more or less morphed into a reality show for college sports fans. And it’s not hard to make a profit because again, it requires more time and effort than it does financial resources. Liucci was making 30-40k a year in the late 90s via checks and money orders for providing nothing more than regular recruiting write ups sent via email.

But in the world of Twitter and leaks, you'd figure people would wise up and stop paying.
I mean, all the "insider" info shows up on free message boards within seconds.
Why pay $9.95 to know something 30 seconds ahead of everyone else? Also, what qualifies people like Liucci and Hamm to analyze players? They probably know as much about football as the average fan.

You get more than player analysis on premium

I’ll just tell you that you’re better off not wasting your time trying to understand it and letting it go. I similarly scratched my head and never could figure it out either, but at the end of the day, we all have our own vices and who are we to tell another man how to spend their own money.
I think it’s dumb paying money to have a guy who never played a down of football and was is just a jock rider preach to me on football or recruiting (not just talking about premium or Hamm here specifically, but almost all recruiting services) but someone might look at the amount of money I’ve spent on guns and hunting stuff and think I’m some sort of a doomsday survival nut. To each his own, some people do get a value out of the service.

At this point, the main service offered is a basic database creation for each year. These sites aggregate pretty accurately who has offers from which programs. Based on that information they can cross reference to figure out a rough consensus of who college coaches seem to think are the best players in the country. Then layer on a bias towards kids who attend camps put on by each of the sites which gives these sites something to cover in the off season and that's how you get to all the rankings they put out.

Just read the comments from users on that site. They want info from a trusted Aggie source, not the International Whorn Media Conglomerate.
Plus there's a lot of in-season coverage that fans here don't get in the local paper like our counterparts in smaller states do.

247 updated their rankings. Looks like they moved a few of our guys down some spots, but Demani got a nice bump. Tyler Owens, a big Texas lean, got a huge bump.

We moved up because Bama got moved down more than we did, but our guys got moved down pretty much across the board.

Idk, I was just trying to get a reaction from TBird.
But I think it's Damani.

I'm not at TexAgs for the information - I'm there simply for the discussion, and the tears threads. All the sites basically have the exact same information anyway
And the bump for Owens is criminal. His offer list is simply terrible
