I don't think Wood counted. We signed 23 last year plus Richardson which would be 24 and allow us 1 to count back for this year.

We also two early enrollees (Blanton and Jace) last year that would have counted back to the 2017 class.
The max # of scholarships in any class is 25 + 3 (if you have room to count back that many), for a total of 28, per SEC rules.

Most worry more about the 85 which is really never something to worry about as that works itself out.
The 85 man limit almost certainly comes into play next year. We have a lot of work to do to get under the 85 man limit this year, and just 11 seniors departing next year (if Trayveon and Jace return). There's going to be a lot of dead weight to cut this offseason, which likely means there won't be as much dead weight to cut next year.
I'd be surprised if we signed a full class in 2020, but it's always a possibility if you cut enough players.

I see this mistake being made all over A&M message boards but the 25 man cap is a limit on NLIs signed in a given cycle. Transfers from FCS and FBS programs do not count towards that number. JUCOs players do sign NLIs so they count. So last year Jace Sternberger counts but Trevor Wood does not.
If a player enrolls in January, they are eligible to count towards the previous cycles 25 limit (if there is room). We had 23 sign last year and we have no way of knowing how many were applied towards the 25 limit for last year but only 3 enrolled early so only those could have been counted back. The fact that we apparently have 26 spots available suggests that only 1 actually was counted back.
Next year, we will undoubtedly run up against the 85 man total roster limit unless we have unhealthy attrition of players who are positively contributing. I would anticipate a class of 22 players in 2020.
The maximum number you can count back in any given year is three. Thus, the hard cap of 28 signed in any given cycle. So by signing 22, you give yourself room to sign the max in 2021.
Sorry for the wall of text but I see these rules being misunderstood on all the A&M message boards all the time.

Who was the 3rd EE last year?

Hmm, my mistake I guess it was only Sternberger and Blanton. For some reason, I thought Small was as well.

Any cruits playing in TX state title games?

I’d like to know this too.

I don’t think any of our 2019 recruits made the title games this year. A few 2020 targets did, Evans and Hornsby being the big ones.

Nobody in the Duncanville North Shore game is currently committed to us, but they have tons of 2020 and 2021 kids who are big time. NS 2020 running back Evans is the best player in Texas regardless of classification, but he was held in check tonight. NS also has a stud sophomore WR named Banks, and George is a nice 2020 OT. Best player on Duncanville was a 2020 safety Thompson and 2020 QB who will play another position in college. A ton of these guys will go D1.

That game was played at a D1 college level. You’ll never see more combined talent on a field in HS, except perhaps when these two teams meet again next year in the title game. All the best players are class of 2020/2021.

Did the Beason kid going to Illinois do anything? He is supposed to be a top 10 player in state, and I never noticed him. But these teams were ridiculous. Really hard to stand out when you have this many dudes. Thompson kid from Duncanville really impressed me, he will hit you.

Beason players corner on defense so not hearing his name generally means he played well.

Thought he was a receiver, maybe I am thinking about his younger brother.

He plays both ways for Duncanville I’m pretty sure

I know 2020 but Evans recruitment will be a fun one for everyone
