1st and goal from the 3 with two pass plays called after we’ve been running it down UCLA’s throat all game tells you all you need to know about Mazzone.

Meh, let’s see how that looks after we play some real teams. UCLA and Arky aren’t good, and two cupcakes in between don’t count for much either. If we have numbers like that at the end of the season, we’ll probably have won more games than we expected to.

Well, we are 1/3 of the way through the season and our remaining rush Ds on the schedule are 56th, 5th, 86th, 49th, 17th, 16th, 96th, & 25th.

Mond - First half Mond looked like he didn't want to run and was pretty indecisive. Starting to wonder if the coaches are wanting him to stay in the pocket and not take off running. He looked pretty uncomfortable in the first half again. He extended plays for a long time running toward the sideline when he could have taken off.
In the second half it looked like Mazzone turned him loose to run when pressured or when he saw an opening.
When he took off he was committed and hauled arse. He looked like a much more instinctive runner in the second half. He was a different player in the second half.

I think Mond could be pretty damn good in a couple years. He shows flashes now for sure but is still young. I think this experience he's getting now pays off though

I’ve been wondering if Mazzone is really in charge of the Offense, and same with the previous OC. With only 1 or 2 exceptions all year, we never run anything unexpected. Sumlin’s teams here at A&M have never run any deception plays. Only thing unexpected was Johnny’s improvising.

If you can't tell the difference between Mazzone's offense and what Spav was running I don't know what to tell you.

They're both equally as inept in the red zone.

Keith Ford on line 1.

Tra Carson on line 2. Still doesn't make either coach any less inept as a playcaller.

How do you feel about 4-1? Would anything make you happy?

Give it a few weeks baw. Things going to get bad.

Things may get bad. But I don't get this heaping pile of negativity over what might happen. Kyle Field was lit more than any time since... when? Nebraska win? ENJOY it!

Sorry finest but last years collapse was too big of a kick in the teeth
Only way I'm getting excited is if we play within 10 points of Bama
And that ain't happening

False
Mazzone has not been great but he has still been better overall than Spav.
85.89% of the time we have gotten into the RZ w/Mazz the team scored. Under Spav that drops to 82.52% of the time.
Spav's time also shows a huge drop from year one to year two. In 2014 the offense scored 87.76% of the time and that fell down to a very poor 77.78% in 2015.
More telling is that in losses Mazzone's offense has performed far better than Spav's ever did.
In 6 losses under Mazzone the offense made it to the RZ 21 times and scored 18 at 85.71%. Meanwhile in 10 losses Spav led offenses made it to the RZ 21 times scoring 14 times at pitiful 66.66 repeating clip. LINK
Also keep in mind that Mazzone has been doing this mainly w/a pair of QB's who are quite terrible at completing passes. Knight only completed 53.3% of his passes while Mond is at 54.8% (though he does seems to be getting better as the season goes). Kenny Hill hit 66.7% of his passes while Allen dropped from 61.5% in 2014 to 56.5% in 2015.
Again, say what you will about his playcalling and the sequences he uses but he is still clearly a step above Spav w/a much better feel for the game and when to call a pass vs run. I also don't think Mazzone ever would have lost control of the QBs the way Spav did. shite, Spav couldn't even get on the same page with his o-line coach.

Fool me once (2014), shame on you. Fool me twice, (2015) shame on me. Fool me 3 times (2016) and you can frick off.

Sorry, but I want to say you were already a Debbie Downer in 2015.
