Aggie Offense weakness

Posted by AggieComments on 10/8/18 at 7:31 am
Aggies defeat Kentucky in overtime, and a win is a win, and anytime the Aggies can knock-off a highly ranked, undefeated opponent, it is a great win. But the Aggies could have been comfortably ahead at the end of regulation except for the inability of the Offense to close-out drives with points. Here is the result of 4 Aggie drives:
…..……Failed to convert a 4th Down
……….A missed Field Goal ….after a bad snap and big loss in that series of downs
……….An Interception
……….A fumble …..Kentucky returned for a Touchdown ...to tie the game with 4 minutes to go
.
These were 4 huge breaks in the Game for Kentucky ….Take away 2 of those and the Aggies lead by more than 1 score at the end of Regulation …..The Offense needs to improve on protecting the ball and finishing up drives with scores.

Aggie running game

Posted by AggieComments on 11/19/17 at 2:10 pm
The Aggie running game averaged 2.7 yards per carry. Take away Keith Ford’s 43 yard run on our 2nd snap of the game and the average drops to 1.7 yards per carry. Of the 18 Aggie first downs, only 2 of those First Downs were running …and both of those were 1 yard Touchdown runs …one by Keith Ford and one by Nick Starkel.
.
Nothing has changed all year. Although we won the game, for the future we cannot continue to rely on the Defense and a one dimensional Offense. After 11 games our Offensive Coaching Staff is doing the same thing, same game plan, over and over, with no improvement.
.
The most deceptive play we have seen all year is a play-fake hand-off to a running back before the Quarterback sets-up to throw.
.
It appears we have absolutely no sculptured offensive game plan, tailored to take advantage of the opposing Defense.

The Program is looking like something we shouldn’t expect to see. Since RC we have had 3 head coaches, each with strengths, but also with weaknesses too significant to accomplish a winning program. Two, back-to-back embarrassing losses on Kyle Field. The current regime needs to put together something impressive quickly (assuming it isn't already too late).

We not only lost ....but looked bad in losing. There is definitely not enough pep in their step. The coaches need to get control of things.

I should have gone to that game. Something about being present at a road game we win is special and memorable.

Something has got to change. We have seen the same ineptness through a couple OCs. I am beginning to think it is the HC actually running things. Coach Sumlin needs to rethink the Offense.

We will see what happens the rest of the year ...but it appears there has been significant improvement.

re: Our Offense

I’ve been wondering if Mazzone is really in charge of the Offense, and same with the previous OC. With only 1 or 2 exceptions all year, we never run anything unexpected. Sumlin’s teams here at A&M have never run any deception plays. Only thing unexpected was Johnny’s improvising.
