I don't miss the Kellen Mond that almost lost to Nicholls during his first start.

Is it just me or does Ainais refuse to catch a punt cleanly?

4 actually. King had 3 and Calzada had one on his only attempt.

Take away King's picks and the stupid 4th down call and the score might be 69-10.

I think Constantinou punted once?

A few random thoughts.

I am split between disappointed and highly encouraged all at once.

Somehow I felt like King played well with 3 INTs if that makes any sense. He showed flashes of someone special. Really, only 1 int was on him. But a lot to work on as well. He’s gotta find the balance between throwing it up and letting his guy make a play and forcing it to a covered guy.

I think Jimbo used this as a glorified scrimmage. He wanted to put King in situations and see how he handled things. If we wanted to blow them out 80-10 we could have. Spiller and Achane could have had 250 each. But what would that have really accomplished.

Way too many mental mistakes for a team with playoff aspirations. I think it’ll get worked out.

Keep in mind, we were without 4 starters tonight and breaking in a bunch of new starters as well.

One guy who did piss me off was Wydermyer. He was so sloppy and only going through the motions when I watched him.

One guy I am so happy for is Leon. He’s turned into such a great person. Any success he has on the field gives me the warm fuzzies.

How’d the crowd look on TV? It was awesome in person.

There was an Arkansas fan who pointed out that the crew who was at Kyle were the same ones who completely blew the Arkansas/Auburn game last year. The fact that you recognize Marc Curles by name and face means that he's garbage.

They were sooooo bad. Jimbo might get fined for calling them out in the post conference presser.

Injuries in the secondary could define the season. Brian George isn't remotely serviceable as a starting CB, but until Myles Jones heals up the only answer is a true freshman. We missed the starters on the DL. Fatheree needs to take over at LT, because JJ was borderline terrible. The rest of the OL did surprisingly decent, including true Freshman Foster at center.

King will be fine in time, and the WR's are at best meh, except for Chapman. Smith can get open as well, but his hands are rather suspect. This team will be good enough to challenge for a NY6 bowl but will get destroyed versus Alabama - again.

Little early for this take no? I think most of us expected there to be struggles in game 1

I watched Alabama - we aren't remotely close to them at this point. But we are really missing some starters, and I am officially worried about the CB position.

We needed that game to help the new o line develop, Colorado will hopefully be another nice growth point

If we are having similar problems during the Arkansas game, I will be concerned.

I agree we need M. Jones back because George will get exposed against better talent. I would love to see Chappell get a look in these early games.

J. Johnson looks less athletic than D. Moore which is disappointing because we need to upgrade there.

On the positive side, C. Lane actually generated some good separation and caught the ball well.
Haynes was throwing strikes when he made good decisions.
Our RBs are absolutely nuts.
We were disciplined in pass coverage with basically no busts.

We played really sloppy for an entire half and still covered against a solid and experienced G5 team that’s favored to win its conference. Which is probably what you should expect from a super talented and inexperienced team in a season opener.

George just isn't a good cornerback, and I agree we need to put the fish in and let them learn. He simply doesn't have the speed or instincts for the position. JJ is just terrible, and needs to be replaced before the next game

Everything else is fixable.

Don’t have much to add that hasn’t already been posted here. Despite winning by 31, didn’t seem like we dominated as we should have, although I won’t say we played poorly by any stretch. I think main thing is just get experience, start to gel better, and improve as the season goes on.

Gave up too many rushing yards and turned the ball over too many times, but both of those things are fixable in my opinion.

Remember the vandy game from last year and how bad we looked, but we obviously ended up having a great season. No reason to think the same can’t happen this year.

Love this dude, so happy to see him finding success and I hope he keeps it going. He’s such an out spoken leader for the team and I love it.
