Bunch of aggy message board posters don't want Earley, so he's probably the right pick.
Lol wut? Most keyboard warriors want him because they are afraid our team will leave so if we’re using your “do the opposite of internet fans” approach we shouldn’t hire him.

I'm soooo curious the amount of "who's coming w you" is involved in 2nd round interviews. If Early has a stud pitching coach he knows or if a couple have called w serious interest then I'm curious who the other interviewees have also.

Also did baseballs strength guy stay and isn't he a pitching coach type also??

The strength guy was hired due to Max. But I haven’t seen anywhere where he’s following them to tu.

Hmmm not sure I like taking this big a risk but I don't know what our other options were.

I like that we will keep the roster together but overall pretty disappointing. We should do better in my opinion, and it makes you wonder how much of a factor money is in this whole ordeal

Seems to me, it's about too much emotion as it is about trying to save money. Be it the current players wanting a guy they trust, or the athletic department/donors having to make an important decision immediately having their hearts ripped out

Any other year, I am extremely skeptical we make this hire (or this type of hire)

Hope we keep the trainer and will check on the strength guy (just hoping for less on his plate after asistant coaches and transfers. Sounds like hitting coach will be the sips guy from last 3 yrs. That guy coached w Early in AZ St. Kendall tweeted look for a power 5 HC to get hired as Associate HC. Hope he has a pitching back ground n hope we get a stud pitching coach also.

Hope we stay healthy for a few yrs. Wansing, Sdao & Montgomery was brutal

Good. Somebody with integrity that the players like. Will continue to hit the crap out of everything, and all we need is a good pitching coach. Reminds me of Vitello’s hire from Tennessee years ago. Hope it goes as well

If we're just recreating the Arizona State Sun Devils that was pretty meh in the Pac 12 with Earley, Caleb Longley (hitting coach from Texas) and Tracy Smith (HC at Michigan, potential pitching coach) or Jason Kelly (HC at Washington) , that's a lot less fun

Jason Kelly was the pitching coach when he was at ASU w/ Earley. He is now the HC at Washington.

So something like this..
HC: Earley
AHC/Pitching: Kelly
RC/Hitting: Longly
Asst.: Will Fox (as per Brauny tweet).

Apparently money wasn’t the problem. The timeline was the biggest factor for everything

Timing was the issue. Money will not be. Lots of former players on Twitter indicating this is a very good hire.

If you weren’t going to absolutely crush it with one of the top coaches in the country, this seems like the best option.

Just an “ok” hire probably sees your roster decimated by the portal, and you’re looking at a full rebuild, then you’re likely giving him a few years, if not more, to try and build it back up. With earley, it’s sounding like most of the roster will stay intact, and you’ll have a fighting chance next season. I think it will also become clear pretty quickly if it’s just too much, too soon, for earley, and considering his inexperience, I imagine his contract will be much cheaper to terminate than a more established coach. By then you’ll have had time to prepare for the coaching change, and do a proper search, and hopefully be able to make that home run hire.

…or maybe Earley is our Vitello! I’m excited to see what he can do.

Yeah I agree with all this. Good ceiling and feels like a pretty low floor imo, just given that even a decent HC job could get this roster back to Omaha (if it stays in tact) plus if he’s the recruit we keep hearing he is we should be able to attack the portal very aggressively. He won’t be starting from 0 either. I’d imagine he’s gonna have all the money/resources to put a good staff together as well

I am of course rooting for him, and it's exciting to think we may retain most or all of our guys. I guess the timeline forces a move like this as well.
