Think if you are going that route I’d just keep ER.

I want Fisch because it is the last hire A&M boosters would make. Therefore it is the right one

Saw Liucci’s new update - barf city. It’s going to be Elko. Time to shift all my money to baseball. Football is lost for the next decade.

I’m not convinced with Fisch. He’s partially turned around a shitty program, but hasn’t actually won anything. A year or two here and there hopping around as an NFL position coach and no real tenure under a winner. He is 200% not it.

If we hire him we’ll be here again in 5-7 years and in the meantime I’ll be shitposting about how bad a decision we made, everybody will say I’m nuts, then DR RC will join in after a year or two, and everybody will say we’re nuts, until 4 years down the road everybody else hops on board saying we should have never hired him in the first place.

He literally went out of his way to shine the turd that is Elko, and he said the next coach will be a defensive one. Connect the dots

If it is Elko, would that mean Santucci is back? I like Elko, but his love for Santucci always made me wonder.

The other two are simply so the turd that is Elko seems a little better. That is how Liucci works. Probably has been Elko from the start because the boosters are in charge and he “gets” A&M

Elko is from New Jersey and aside from 4 years at A&M has coached exclusively in the midwest and east coast. He was also pretty unimpressive with boosters from what I've heard. I've never understood the "gets A&M" angle with him. He might be the hire, and it's obvious the delusional part of our fanbase (which has somehow grown despite still never winning anything of consequence) will hate it, but you're simply melting to melt at this point

I think it is highly possible Liucci knows jack shite about this reading his updates (or lack thereof)

Nope. Fisch isn’t a defensive coach. Elko is the one name Liucci continues to mention, and defend as a “great” pick in every single update. I would say that the steer a-hole is right and we already have a deal with Elko. He was right about Stewart as well.

Elko is the only hire that makes sense financially… we keep on the majority of the staff and wouldn’t have to pay for new assistant coaches/coordinators. If anything we might come out ahead with regards to support staff because I would believe Durkin would be gone Santucci comes back as LB coach/special teams coordinator. E Rob gets promotion to DC but we all know it will be Elko there. Petrino might stay depending on what the LSU game looks like and Adazzio is gone. That is a net of two necessary coaching changes if Elko is the guy. It’s too turnkey financially.

It’s garbage. Same old same old. Moving my donations to a winner in Schloss. To hell with the football team

Yep but unless we want to scrap the whole thing and start over from scratch with an unknown like Fisch with all the negative financials, that is where we are. Deboer is really the only correct play but we are betting that the winner we want loses so we can get him??? That is the ultimate Aggie logic.

What makes you think Santucci would take a demotion?

I don’t think he knows much this time around either. Maybe the AD is actually being pretty good about not many leaks. His update referenced hearing things from “other teams insiders” but it seems like he isn’t hearing much from our own side.

I really hope he’s just out of the loop and we’ve really zeroed in on a coach and have for awhile now. If you’re gonna drop 77 million firing the last coach, you shouldn’t be running around a coaching search like a chicken with its head cut off, you’d have a plan of action before you fire. Hope we do, but it’s A&M athletics so….

I would be perfectly fine with Elko as long as he fills out the staff well, which I think he would. I think we went into it with an actual process and deep down knew we could fall back to him if someone didn’t wow us or we couldn’t land a big name. But I don’t think it’s him honestly. If I had to bet on it right now I would guess we hire Fisch
