Sorry for going on and on about this but I'm really let down. I wanted Sumlin to be the guy. To me, RC was a folksy old man from another generation, Fran was a dick and a fake, and Sherman was sleepy. I really wanted Sumlin to be the guy because I connected with him. I believed. Now he's striking out on this hire and going with some brokedick who did 1-2 year NFL position coach stints all over (anywhere his dad's friends would give him a job) and he's going to suck. Dammit. Here we go again...

I think you may be jumping the gun with this. I have a feeling the typical old BMA mold has been broken for this search. No inside info just a gut feeling.

This is pure silliness. If David Gibbs were to be hired and put out a great defense, no one would give a shite that they were upset with the hire. Nor should they.

And I know next to nothing about David Gibbs other than what’s on his wiki page. But I’ve never once heard his name from anyone in the know even in passing despite the fact that it has been well known that Snyder was out for weeks (and no one even tried to hide that fact) and I've heard at least 10 other names.

Please stop creating predictions of doom to melt about for a bit

I wouldn't melt just yet.

Sumlin and HC Tony Levine are friends. It would be a dick move to steal the only thing that Levine has going for him at Coog High considering the history between the two (especially since the defense is the only thing Levine has going for himself).

Why are you going on about Gibbs as if there is even a hint of him actually being the hire?

Literally the only person saying he a legit candidate at this point is CSCG, who gets off playing the wet blanket and craves attention.

Pretty sure that info popped up a couple weeks ago and was reiterated on 247 by Hamm. It seems like the kind of guy Sumlin would go for, honestly. I'm still in the trust Sumlin era as I will be until Sumlin shows he is unwilling to adapt as necessary.

Liucci said today that every name on the list right now is a big, established name. We'd need to strike out on 4-5 guys before we get to someone like Gibbs.

I'm not trying to bash Hamm and he was already trending that way, but when he hired Tarp, he literally made the AD his enemy, for better or worse. The attitude of 247 now is that being on the outside is beneficial because you don't need to appease anyone. However, it also means you have sketchy connections. And given their icy relations with Sumlin, it's a really insidious situation.

Gibbs was unemployed the last time Sumlin hired a DC. And the last time he had serious budget constraints yet he didn't give him any consideration. We attempted to get Narduzzi but failed because of money. Today we have one of the highest assistant pools in the country and people are acting like now we'll go cheap. Someone may blow him away, but like last year when we hired Joseph, my bet is on Sumlin identifying the guy he wants and then we money-whip him.

This.

Look at Sumlin's track record with assistant hires.

Strike out on Nard Dog, hire meh Snyder. Fail.

Lose KK, promote the RB coach to OC. Fail.

Demote the RB coach, hire some 20-something GA to be our OC. Fail.

Again and again his pattern is to go cheap and unknown. It's going to be some shitter like Gibbs.
