So the USA Today had an article about the Longhorns today and they called them the historical equivalent of Pitt and also called them the underachieving trust fund babies of college football.

Given that tu had the greatest wealth of HS talent in America essentially all to themselves for DECADES, you could make an argument that they have underachieved. From the late-40s to the mid-70s their only recruiting competition was OU, nobody in state was even a blip on the radar.

In the past 40 years, tu has won one NC and had only 8 top 5 finishes in the polls which is what Pitt has done during the same time period.

And in the past 40 years we've had 0 NCs & 1 top 5 finish. Pretty embarrassing.
What point are you trying to make?

That they aren't in the same category as the Alabama's, Ohio State's or USC's of the world like they want to believe.

the fire is too hot right now. I would have preferred a slow burn but it looks like the accelerant is creating a backdraft and Charlie is about to get impaled on a fence.

I'm pissed that the Strong era could end after year two. I wanted him to win 7 or 8 and just bleed them out for like 5 years.

This guy is also very sad.

It won't. It can't. No matter the record if they fire their first black coach after two years they are racists. Yall remember the deal at Notre Dame, except Texas cares WAY more about keeping up liberal appearances.
He will get three years.

they are, after all, moving the Jefferson Davis statue.

That's photoshopped, right? No way that's real.

They can't afford it. Check out the way his contract is structured. Not only that, but they're still paying Mack and having money problems right now. I seriously think that with their current financial sitation and Strong's strong contract, they have him until after year 3 no matter what. I think that even if he bombs this year and goes 6-6 in the third that they'll fire Patterson as a scapegoat and give Charlie a 4th year.

Yeah I agree Charlie will get Patterson fired before he gets himself fired.

He could go 2-10 this year and he still won't be fired. They are stuck with him.

Funny thing is, when Strong first took over he implemented all of that Marshall Law bullshite and as of now they're stuck in the same hole. TCU owes us a few handjobs.

What's great about these 5 Core Values jerseys is that they signify that a significant portion of their fan base has latched onto being into "strong values" as an alternative to being into "winning", which they can't do anymore.
It's a coping mechanism.
So now they're BYU, which gets to tell itself that yeah, it isn't all that great, but that's because its players have to live up to the Mormon standards of BYU, which means they lose out on all the talented thugs the other programs make hay with.
Except that BYU just beat UTw, twice.
