I’d rather start Johnson than K-INT.

So 2 drives against a SHSU team that didn’t give a damn late in a 6 hour, rain delayed game is enough to tell you he needs to be the guy?

I'd rather have 350+ yards passing, multiple TD's, and some promise for the future than Mond 2.0

I'd rather Weigman than both

Meh, frick it. I was so tired of Mond and then Calzada’s refusal to try and push the ball down the field that I’ll tolerate this for a while. At least the kid has a sack and shoots his shot, and actually makes some from time to time.

Need to work on checking off to the intermediate receiver. Also with the first interception, Haynes under threw the receiver. Don't need to be doing that.

Ah... so we're ready to give up on a guy that's had essentially two career starts.

Yesterday was his first career 300 yard game

Let’s see how he looks we when can have an actual rushing threat.

It wasn’t enough to make the call on who should start but it was absolutely enough to see that his arm strength significantly better than King’s. Unless he was simply practicing touch throws all game those floaty passes King lofts up are going to get eaten up in SEC play.

I've seen the arm strength thing numerous times here. Maybe it is me, but accuracy and down the field passing matters way more to me. Hell, one of the best QB's I've ever seen in the NFL throws the ugliest passes ever seen

Some of you people would bitch if they hung you with a new rope. I was at the game yesterday. I saw a lot of good things. King played ok yesterday. He had some first game jitters but played pretty good. There were three passes that were flat dropped by the recievers. King was a little slow checking off. And he waited too long to deliver the ball at times, allowing the cover guys to close on the recievers. He noticably better in the second half. (Only two incompletes)His accuracy was better after the half. The running game sucked, no doubt about it. But the OL isn’t set yet. The defense played good, the half time adjustments reined in the SHSU QB that was hurting us. And it seems a lot people have forgotten that SHSU is just 3 months from winning the FCS national championship. This win was way better than the way the last couple of years have started off.

take this for what you will

King currently has 6 INTs in just 70 pass attempts. That's 1 pick for every 11.6 passes.

Here are the Aggie QBs w/a minimum of 70 pass attempts from Kevin Murray to now.

Zack Calzada - 10 INTs in 351 passes
Kellen Mond - 27 INTs in 1358 passes
Nick Starkel - 6 in 227
Trevor Knight - 7 in 362
Kyler Murray - 7 in 121
Jake Hubanek - 3 in 196
Kyle Allen - 14 in 475
Kenny Hill - 8 in 343
Johnny Manziel - 22 in 863
Ryan Tannehill - 21 in 774
Jerrod Johnson - 27 in 1109
Stephen McGee - 13 in 815
Reggie McNeal - 23 in 875
Dustin Long - 22 in 437
Mark Farris - 18 in 755
Randy McCown - 14 in 536
Branndon Stewart - 13 in 623
Corey Pullig - 29 in 969
Jeff Granger - 4 in 205
Bucky Richardson - 23 in 405
Lance Pavlas - 27 in 439
Craig Stump - 21 in 363
Kevin Murray - 32 in 926

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this average improves each game, and each season.

As the numbers show, there’s several QBs on there with better ratios than the guy that won the heisman for us, so it’s not the end all stat. I’m with black gloves and gonna guess that he does get better about them, he’s only played 2.5 games at the college level right now and will hopefully get better.

Now if he stays a turnover machine? Bring in Johnson, or really I’d rather throw Weigman out there and let him learn in trial be fire if our season is basically a wash at that point.

Look I wanted King to win the job but he now has 5 picks vs Kent State and Sam Houston. He had no zip on his passes and he forced throws into coverage often. He could have easily had 2 or 3 more picks vs Sam. If he throws another pair of picks vs App St I bet he gets benched.

He throws 2 picks against App state and we probably lose that game

Y’all act like things dont change game to game. Guys have off days, red hot days, improve, struggle with new looks, etc. King did a lot well vs Sam. More yards than any Calzada game. I know it’s only Sam, but that was probably a top 5ish offensive output from a QB since Jimbo took over. Let’s not write the book on anyone 1 start in.

He’s going to improve, so will the OL obviously. It was basically his second game as a college QB. My biggest concern with King is the arm strength plus risk taking is a scary combo. I like pushing the ball down field more obviously just not sure he has the tools to capably do it against good competition

From my recollection, one or two of the Kent state picks were deflections off our receiver’s hands. Yes he had some throws into coverage, hopefully he gets better. You act like players don’t develop and get better throughout their career. Again, he’s played a whopping 2.5 games at the college level right now, let’s get a few more data points.

Now I do agree that if he throws 2-3 picks this next game he probably does need to get benched and we need a serious look at how the QB position will move forward this season.
