I don’t actually think he has.

Why won't he give Caldaza a shot? Mond can't even scratch his nuts consistently.
All our QBs do this. Johnny was the only one that fought and scrapped until the clock read 00:00.

He should let Dickey go (not that any of this is really his fault b/c he's not truly in control of this offense anyway) and cede all offensive duties to Steve Spurrier. Tell him he doesn't even have to recruit. Just call plays and control the offense.

This.
Did Mond lose that game yesterday? No.
Did he keep us from having a shot to pull it out? Absolutely.
You don’t take 25-30 on every damn play when you are in that situation. He gets that last drive with a minute more in time and we have a shot.
And how many delay penalties do we have every damn game?
Mond has physical skills, but his mental game is debilitating.

You sound like a Lsu dork. You know Jimbo has been plenty successful without him.

What has he won without him? A shitty conference with an average of two tough teams per year

What has Les Miles won without Matt Flynn?
What has Mack Brown won without Vince Young?
What did Bob stoops win without Josh Heupel?
What did Phillip Fulmer win without Tee Martin?
What did Steve Spurrier win without Danny Wuerffel?
There are lots of one National championship win coaches that never got back to the big game. As you can see from the list above, lot of them had a good QB at the time. It’s pretty hard to win a lot of games without a good one. So to ask what a coach has done without a good QB is a pretty asinine question.
To answer your question, he also won the ACC conference championship with EJ Manuel. So not every conference or national championship was under Winston. But you already knew that.

He's had finishes of 17, 23, 5, 14, 8, & 16.
In 7 years he's had...
1 top 5
2 top 10
3 top 15
5 top 20
6 top 25
From '94 to '17 A&M has had...
1 top 5
2 top 10
4 top 15
7 top 20
8 top 25
He's accomplished about what our program has in the most recent 23 years before him. That includes Sumlin, Sherman, Fran, and 9 years of RC.

Might not be the popular answer, but here goes...
Fisher moved with Bowden's to Auburn
Moved on to LSU with Saban
Moved onto Bowden's staff at Free Shoes U
I think he was good as a QB coach but none of that was HC
Gets bumped up to HC after Bowden retires
Has Stoops on staff for defense but may have let the locker room get away from him catering to Jameis but still had Stoops
Stoops heads to UK and Jameis heads to the NFL
Maybe with Stoops there discipline of the team was in place so Jimbo can focus on QB's, which is what he has been focused on.
Word in Tallahassee was he had lost control of the locker room and lost control of academics as well.
Maybe he is a good QB coach but needs somebody like Stoops to offset his weaknesses?
In the SEC west you need a defensive guy but you also need the guy that will keep the kids focused. Buttertooth at texas was prime example of what can go wrong when a coach loses control of the locker room. Rumor was the same when Les lost control for the second Bama game and lost it.

A lot, actually.
And crab legs is a bumbling retard. Jimbo made him what he is in terms of a quarterback.

Good thing we have Elko.

All of this is certainly possible, and Jimbo may not be what we hope he is. We don’t know that yet. But he made the choice to come to A&M when he could’ve gone any number of other places (most especially LSU). He’s gonna be filthy rich, no doubt. But he doesn’t strike me as a man who doesn’t care about his football rep. He came here knowing what it would take to be successful, and he came anyway.

Well a good QB isn’t worth a lick of play calling is terrible. My grandma coulda called a better game than what I witnessed on Saturday.

Look, man. I know you're frustrated. It's not like we were losing to unranked scrub. Auburns a pretty good team with a solid defense.
Sometimes coaches are stubborn with their game plan and refuse to abandon it, even for a single series, until it is too late. He's trying to go with the same plan as if we didn't lose our starting RB and some good OL to the NFL. That's the only fault I can identify.
Our defense played good enough to win. But, I laid out in the other thread all of the run plays that we ran and that went nowhere. No gain or 1 yard runs all over the place, but when they weren't looking for it, somebody would bust off a 10-yarder. After the first two series, the run game should've been abandoned at least for one series to throw up a wrinkle that got Auburn out of the defense they were using. It was all stop the run disguise coverages. They knew we were going to try to run the ball and they were selling out to stop it.
i'm pretty certain a guy like Jimbo knows what the problem is. He just waited too long to change gears. Now that he knows the problem we have (everyone playing run-first), I don't think he will make the same mistake. At least I hope he will not.
I honestly don't think there was a better coach available and Sumlin was not getting it done. Jimbo is still one of the top coaches.
I would still like to see us pull off an 8-4 season. I'm not ready to give up on it yet.

I get that, just not sure if he can realize the weak parts of his game and patch them with others to fill it. Many successful people could be legendary if they could see their weaknesses without drinking the Koolaid that makes clarity more fuzzy.
CUM is smart in that he does not take jobs where he has too build but can step win with the talent in place to take him to MNC's and is smart to claim health issues to leave quickly when that talent is spent or the NCAA may be on the radar.
