I agree with you. Not sure why they aren't allowing it

I guess perhaps they are trying to force BYU try to get into the Big 12 so there is less chance they get raided later on?

I'm not sure that's how the guys running the ACC think though since they were dumb enough to let Swofford tie up a lot of their rights with Raycom (saving the company) where his son works.

There's no way in hell t.u. will allow another school to get special privileges (such as BYU not playing anything on Sundays)

If the B12 were smart they would make a deal with BYU and UC the way the ACC did with Notre Dame for football

Cincinnati plays (3) B12 teams every season in football
WVU plays UC every season, rotates KU + OU and KSU + OSU
Group A : KU + KSU + OU + OSU + WVU

BYU plays (3) B12 teams every season in football
BYU plays Iowa State every season, rotates tu + TCU and TT + BU
Group B : Texas + Texas Tech + Baylor + TCU + Iowa State

Would look like this (4 years for full rotation) :

UC year 1
UC vs WVU @ UC
UC vs OU @ Paul Brown
UC vs KU @ KU

UC year 2
UC vs WVU @ WVU
UC vs OU @ OU
UC vs KU @ UC

UC year 3
UC vs WVU @ UC
UC vs OSU @ UC (or Paul Brown if it sells well)
UC vs KSU @ KSU

UC year 4
UC vs WVU @ WVU
UC vs OSU @ OSU
UC vs KSU @ UC

Same thing for BYU and the TX schools

BYU and UC would be "Big 5" like and probably would pass muster with the playoff committee. B12 could schedule both teams as "trial period" before deciding if they wanted to add them and split the B12 money with them.

why would they do that instead of just taking both on as members w/BYU for football only and Cincy for all sports?

Big 5 conferences do not take schools on for "football only". That's something reserved for mid-Majors.

If that's what the Big 12 is now (which I can agree with), then so be it.

Yeah I don't get why you would only take on Cincy football when they have such a strong basketball program. You want their bball program if you're going to get in bed with them

ehh...

football only would make sense for BYU in the Big 12 b/c the costs for the sports other than football would be ridiculous.

I guess they could have them out on an island like WVU but w/BYU as a football only it would severely cut down on potential Sunday game issues.

Why does Texas do anything it does?

I really have a strong feeling UC and BYU for all sports would not be good enough to up the average of the whole conference and travel for both would high for all sports. Same with current B12 schools traveling for all sports to those 2 schools.

This is the low cost alternative without having to split the B12 TV deal 12 ways instead of 10 which is not going to make any of the 10 schools happy if they have to take less.

You are getting it backwards!

Neither is joining the B12 just like Notre Dame did not join the ACC for football.

ACC (by contract) plays 5 ACC teams while remaining IND in football. BYU and UC could do the same thing with the B12.

BYU (by contract) plays 3 B12 games a season in football.
UC (by contract) plays 3 B12 games per season in football.

Not sure why this is so difficult to understand when Notre Dame has already done it.

UC, BYU, and B12 all get better schedules and none have to pay for "rent a win" games that would hurt their post season chances via SoS. In theory UC and BYU would help the Sagarin type numbers for the B12 and the B12 Sagarin type numbers would help UC and BYU. It is a benefit for both sides without having to add both schools to the B12 for all sports and drive up travel costs for all 12 schools.

BYU and UTEP both need to STFU and get into the MWC. This may not make the MWC a P5, but it would make the league the first conf outside the P5.

If BYU was in the MWC last year they would have tied the Big 12 for NFL picks in the draft, and the Big 12 got like 5 of their 17 picks in the last round. MWC actually did better.

That is why both of those schools should join the MWC.

I've often wondered what would have happened two years ago if MU had joined the B1G with Nebraska, and OU to the SEC with us. Would tu have gone Indy? If so, would Tech, OSU, KSU join the MWC along with UTEP? Honestly, it wouldn't have been a bad league.

I feel bad for BYU here. They are regularly better than half of the teams in the major conferences. They're a worthy OOC opponent for fulfilling the requirement. I wonder if the contractual complication of their network are the reason they got the shaft on this. (I'm not Mormon - unbiased opinion).

That sucks. Why would we play Florida again in 2017 instead of Georgia?

Well, sadly it's not just about us

I imagine they argued about how long it's been since school X has played at school Y and the rest of the schools have a lot more history so we probably just got fitted. Happy to see they are starting the rotation this year but not too happy about what we got. Oh well. And apparently the UT noise was just that. At least they come to Kyle in '16.

2016 is going to have a nice home schedule:

UCLA
UT
OM
LSU

Yeah I'm not pleased. I was excited about making a roadie to UGA and/or UT in the next few years. So our 15 conference slate will be

Home:
Carolina
Auburn
Bama
State
Away:
LSU
Vandy
OM

Then Arky at Jerry's

16:
Home:
UT
OM
LSU
Away:
Auburn
Bama
State
Carolina

Arky at Jerry's.

I like our schedule in 15 to make some noise TBH and we get some great home games that year. I have no idea what I'm going to do for an away trip in 15 though since I've been to multiple games at OM and LSU and been to Cashville multiple times. Disappointing
