Yes, Jimbo could be hammering out the details of a recently finished for the season college football coach. My point in the NFL is they are not finished with their season yet and hence could be another reason the OC has not been announced.

That's true, and I don't fully understand how hiring an NFL coach works, but I know that Kentucky hired a coach from the Rams to be OC a month ago. He was already with Kentucky in the same capacity last year, so that probably makes the process easier, but couldn't Jimbo have already done something similar if that's the route he wanted to go?

When did Jimbo and Durkin "cross paths"? Other than Durkin's Ole Miss D stopping Jimbo's O and Jimbo thinking so highly of his O that apparently that was enough for Jimbo to hire Durkin? Nevermind that Jimbo went 8-4 that year, so he apparently had at least 3 other DCs who beat him too. Perhaps he didn't change his estimation of his own O.

Jimbo's ego potentially came into play when other, more relevant OL coaching candidates didn't take a flyer on him while the position was open for a month. Instead, he had to accept an aging head coach fired form his job and give him a demotion. When did Jimbo and Addazio "cross paths"? Maybe they did somewhere, but nothing recent, apparently:

quote:

Addazio has spent the past 11 seasons as a head coach at Temple, Boston College and Colorado State, but prior to that, was the Offensive Coordinator/OL Coach at Florida under Urban Meyer. He also had previous coaching stops at Indiana, Notre Dame and Syracuse, accumulating more than 25 years of major college football coaching experience.

Maybe Jimbo thought it a good idea to hire an opposing head coach of BC when he was the coach at FSU?

Yearly from 2010-2014, when Jimbo was calling plays for FSU and Durkin was on the defensive staff (and for two years calling plays) at Florida

Of the five supposedly better hires you think prove your point, 2 guys couldn't find a job this year, 2 stuck around at their same jobs (equal to A&M, in OU and LSU) and one took an equivalent job at Florida to work for the same HC he had previously

When did Jimbo and Addazio "cross paths"?

When they coached opposing instate rivals for 4 years, and then when they were opposing head coaches in the ACC for 5 years

People would hate Rob Sale if he was our OL coach. Using him to support your argument is almost as bad as using two guys who are currently unemployed as OL coaches

Well this took an unexpected turn. Anyone know how they circled back here?

Honestly it's probably the best Jimbo could manage. I doubt anyone with major prospects in the near term wants to tie their hopes to Jimbo, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

This will either be a spectacular success or tremendous disaster. There is no denying that he is a great offensive coach. There is also no denying that he is a questionable person at best.

Jimbo got rejected by everyone he really wanted and was forced to settle on a known name so he could try placate a pissed off fanbase.

Oh well... maybe we'll get lucky and it'll work out... or it'll end up like when Sumlin hired Chavis and torpedoed any chance he had at sticking around.

Lets be honest, you and a lot of the fanbase werent going to be happy no matter who he hired, unless it was Riley from TCU. We dont know who all he talked to and said no, it is what it is at this point.

They way I look at it, it would be hard statistically for our offense to get any worse, so it's all uphill from here right? Does sound like Jimbo wont be calling plays so that's gotta be worth something to be happy about.

All this time and it’s Petrino? Wow. We’ll see how it goes, feels like do or die for Jimbo now

And this is complete bullshite, everyone knew that Jimbo wanted Petrino, and then he was high on his list. It was Fanbase reaction to the rumors that made the administration ask Jimbo to consider other choices before making a final decision.

His last FBS offense was so bad that he was relegated to a bottom tier FCS program and no one worth a damn wanted his arse in the 5 years since.
