Attacks on Yell Leaders (and the very concept of them) is a Tiger Droppings staple. Do we have a policy on response?

Ignore?
Explain?
Call the YL poon hounds?
Etc?

Im pretty sure you lean into the inherit ridiculousness and silliness

"Yell leaders are gay"
"And? What are you a prude?"

Not the hill I want to die on. Yell leaders seem really strange, so just let it go. You will never convince an outsider it is not weird, those guys are low hanging fruits for anyone looking to bad mouth A&M.

They're SUPPOSED to be. That was the whole point of them originally

I take some of the Traditions Council explanations with a big grain of salt. I've looked at a lot of old yearbooks and programs, and other schools used the term "yell leaders" along with milkman costumes. And a lot of the early yells were similar to yells used at other schools, like rockchalk jayhawk or whatever. A&M just stuck with the yell leader traditions through the years, like many others.

That said, I think the Milkmen in recent years have done plenty to invite mockery and I don't care about defending them on message boards.

Unfortunately this is true... so just embrace the gayness of it.

Best.

Its just jealousy and envy that drives the attacks on our ripped heart-throbs. A&M yell leaders are the original boy band. All the dudes hate boy bands because, well, they ain't.

I don't think there IS a good response, and they've brought it on themselves. I took the missus to Midnight Yell Practice a few years ago, her first time on campus. With no previous exposure to this or other sites and 10 minutes in, she looks at me and asks me "Are they gay?"

The not-even-halfass pushups and all the gay hugging bothers the crap out of this old curmudgeon. As my old lady mentioned, it hasn't always been this way.
