Are we starting to like Klein? What do we need to see to believe he’s the right guy?

I've liked Klein since he was a QB at K-State. I think he's a great OC, but not necessarily an improvement on Petrino. His style of play is much different from any OC we've had at A&M since joining the SEC, so that's been an adjustment. I'm not used to use being a team that tries to pound the rock and chew up the clock.

I do still feel like he can get a bit too conservative /predictable at times. Before these last two games we pretty much ran the ball 90% of the time on second down. Didn’t matter if it was 2nd and long, or short, just always ran the ball. Maybe that was a factor of Marcel not being as good of a passer. And now that Connor is back the passing playbook is more open again. Just one thing I noticed.

These last couple of games have looked good with play action, mixing up inside & outside runs, and have taken plenty of deep shots to keep the defense honest. The main thing I’ll say is he seems to be fitting the play calls to what talents/strengths the players have. Whereas Jimbo tried to make the team fit his offensive system (square peg in round hole analogy).

I’d say my grade through half the season is probably a B+.

We have a top 10 scoring offense of P5 teams vs P5 opponents. I would say that's good. I like the offense in general. I think Reed was very lacking in what he was able to do this early in his career. Weigman runs the offense better, but also makes some bone headed throws. Even with that, we're averaging over 32 ppg vs ND, Arky, Mizzou, Florida, & MSU.

I think one turnover might be survivable with LSU

Any more than that and we are going to be toast

Klein has a lot of potential. The offense is MUCH better with a healthy Weigman.

He will be a young head coach IMO in the next 3 years. He's got the "It" factor.

I like Elko btw. Congrats to you all.

Klein is getting good instruction from Elko, he should be a HC soon at somewhere like Tulsa, Kansas if Leopold goes, SMU if Lashley goes, etc, Wyoming, Utah State, etc

So what injury did he have this week? Did he get turf toe from a pedicure?

What I don’t understand and we see mobile Conner in one game and we see glued in one spot Conner in another

But I’ll say it again, make it clear to Reed he’s the future, and use both quarterbacks situationally going forward

Anyone who likes football likes Klein. We have the most creative run game I've ever seen in Aggieland and we are tops inscoring in SEC games.

I’d love to see what he could do with a truly dynamic dual threat QB prospect. Reed flashes it and perhaps could still turn into it, but he has his flaws.

Regardless it’s great to have an offensive staff that seems flexible and adaptable to its personnel instead of one that tries to jam a square peg into a round hole. It felt like that had been the case even going back into a lot of Sumlin’s tenure

Read this on TexAgs a little bit ago

“ Instead of having a dual threat quarterback, we have the threat of dual quarterbacks”

South Carolina defense now has to spend all week preparing for both quarterbacks and according to a breakdown that I just read the offense Klein used for each quarterback differs enough that it’s like preparing for two separate teams

I like this

coastAg brought up the great point that the "threat of dual QBs" was how Klein rolled last year with KSU. In the limited practice world of CFB, it puts quite the stress on a defense.

Yep

It’s up to Elko to help the team and the quarterbacks understand that it’s a team first mentality, the objective is to win

This is an advantage most weeks, but it may not be this week.

SC was off last week.. and most likely prepared for Weigman.
I imagine this week they will prepare for Reed.

Not sure if it is true, but I read Beamer is 6-1 in night games.. not sure if all of those are at SC though. No idea on the level of competition in those games either.

As for bye weeks, it looks like he is 2-2 after a bye week.

2021 40-17 W vs Florida
2022 30-23 W vs Texas A&M
2023 39-41 L vs Florida
2024 3-27 L vs Ole Miss

If not for that game earlier this year, I would have said they played good after a bye.

I'm thinking about going to this game. It's only 3 hours away. Thoughts?

Good seats are still available from U of SC's website.

Looks like those are all "Verified Resale" tickets, unless I am looking at it wrong. I'll probably decide on Saturday either way.. but thanks for the tip.
