oh, it was just him basically talking about how "while a&m isn't UT, Rice or baylor..." the association with Bush was a good thing for the school, and a good thing for bush. not a big deal, just thought it was kind of funny.

I am closely affiliated with UPRR. And the other class 1 railroads. They don’t think like that

It's worth more as a monument than it is a usable asset. If they weren't feeling generous.

idk man it isn't a passenger train, it was just converted for that purpose. It's a freight locomotive. Cost is about $2 million and it earns about $2,000 per hour when it is operational in UP's system. It can make more in a month hauling freight than it could make as .... well anything.

Not to mention UP probably doesn't outright own it, they lease it, and it costs probably around $50k a month.

It's been sitting in storage since 2005 so it's not like it's been bringing in money for the company.

believe it or not but this is an untrue statement (assuming correct about storage); locomotives in storage can make money surprisingly enough using the railroad gorilla math

What it makes while operational isnt really part of the equation. If its 2 million to replace that's all that matters.

Again, not in this industry. I understand what you're saying, but the accounting isn't the same for railroads and airlines.

You're the guy to answer this question then;

Why did they have two locomotives for the funeral?

If the presidential locomotive is going to stay somewhere as an honorary display for awhile, or if the UPRR is going to retire the locomotive after this trip, they need to have another locomotive to transport the rest of the railcars in the train's consist to their final destination.

Plus having only one locomotive could implicate regulatory speed or movement restrictions. It is rare to see a freight train without two or three locomotives.

Liucci is on a role calling out posters. He largely hasn’t posted in the last 2 weeks because his eye hurts, but all the sudden he starts posting to tell people how much they suck. Lots of folks aren’t taking it well.

He really provides zero value at this point. My favorite is when he rushes to post something on twitter and all the paying subscribers roast him for giving the info to the public. Per usual, he acts like a child.

That way maybe the pride-swallowing act of having to create a new username in order to sign back up knowing that ownership wants nothing to do with you coming around here and polluting the boards will be enough of a deterrent.
