I think there is an 80% chance Buzz leaves if the Maryland job opens.

Who is left on the roster should he stay? Buzz is leaving. He's done what he could do at A&M.

We got 2 players that played coming back in Payne and Washington. Hopefully they stay for whatever is next for Aggie basketball.

Blind resume comparison:
Coach A: 8 seasons, 1 conference championship, 2 Sweet 16s
Coach B: 6 seasons, 0 conference championships, 0 Sweet 16s

Payne will probably get a ton of money on the open market. Solo, maybe a little less, but I think he'll be in the portal and highly coveted as well.
Ain't much use in worrying about player retention with a coaching change, it's all part of the game now. Do a good job with the hire and the roster will sort itself out.

lol what? The last 3 HCs all had better success. Even w/BKs very low lows he still got to the sweet 16 twice.
Buzz was a massive disappointment considering how hyped everyone was to get him in College Station.

OU coach the odds-on favorite?

God I hope not but it wouldn’t surprise me.
Payne followed Buzz to Maryland so we basically have no one left on the roster of note.

Samford’s coach? Sure, why not

I look forward to repeating this process in 4 years when he gets fired/goes to Maryland.

He was on my list in case we moved on from McMahon. Exciting style of play.

We have no players on our roster so all we can judge Bucky on if his style of play is going to be fun to watch or not. I have no illusions that we are going to be a winning team this year or next.

I’m willing to give him a year or two to get the roster right. I just wanna see them be competitive, idk anything about him tho. Seems to have a ton of praise around him, and everything I’ve seen mentions him as a guy that was gonna get a P5 job sooner than later so hopefully we got him at the right time

Landed a former 5 star transfer from Indiana. Bucky and our NIL team coming out the gates hot
*****
Former Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako has announced his commitment to Texas A&M.
At 6-foot-9 and 220 pounds, Mgbako averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists as a sophomore for the Hoosiers. He shot 43.7 percent from the field, 32.9 percent from 3-point range and 81 percent at the free throw line.
In two seasons in the Big Ten, Mgbako established himself as one of the best young bigs, averaging 12.2 points per game for two consecutive years.
He was named 2024 Big Ten Rookie of the Year and made the 2023-24 Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
The Gladstone, New Jersey, native can stretch the floor, averaging over 4.5 3-point attempts per game in his career. He finished inside the top 20 in 3-point attempts across the Big Ten as a freshman.
The former five-star recruit will look to make an immediate impact on Bucky McMillan’s first roster, slotting into a starting spot in the frontcourt.
McMillan and his staff had to beat out Will Wade and NC State and Chris Beard and Ole Miss for Mgbako, a massive recruiting win for A&M’s new head coach.
He arrives in Aggieland with two years of eligibility left.
