This is very true, although my biggest issue overall has been the offensive play calling. I think there are plenty of examples of coaches not putting the players in the best position to win. The Colorado St game could have been totally different with a better offensive mindset in the 2nd half. At certain points they looked like they were just playing not to lose. Chad doesn't call the plays but obviously he is behind the offense. Hopefully he learns from some of the early mistakes. The defense has actually been fine when they aren't in terrible field position, which happens often thanks to the awful offense.

Having said that...GOD DAYUM, CHAD!!!

Yeah, Arkansas may have been the worst job for him to take. Hopefully they are patient with him.

I think I saw where Cole Kelley threw the ball something like 30 times in the first half of that North Texas game. It was probably the indicated option in that RPO game Morris wants to play, so I get why it happened. But given his limitations as a passer, it is probably not a formula for winning football.

I only really watched the first half of that North Texas game. But from what I saw, Kelley and the Hog WRs were not on the same page. They are supposed to adjust their routes based on the coverage. But they weren't seeing the field the same way Kelley did.

We'll see what Storey can do. I'd ask Kelley to move to H-Back or something. He's gotta be weighing in at 250 pounds or so. It just isn't going to happen for him at QB in this offense.

I can't deny that he has some bad options at QB when he wants to run the RPO. The best players that fit that system are freshman.

Yes and it was clear at times that it was both of their faults depending on the situation. I think this kind of stuff would get a pass if everything else was going ok.

I think we all know now that Storey is just the better overall QB. Has a much better feel in the pocket. I can understand Morris' logic on wanting to stick with Kelley to give him some confidence but it was the wrong choice. Kelley would be great on goal line and short yardage situations. He would be great in RPOs that way because of how big he is but he isn't fast or quick enough to run it all over the field.

As mad as people are, he is going to get time. He wasn't my 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice but I'm still willing to give him the chance to get his players and system into place. For the situation, he has a good class coming in if he can keep everything in place. I don't have must trust in that though if we keep losing like last Saturday.

For our standards and the situation, good.

We are currently sitting at 22 I believe, which would already tie Bert's best class and one of our best classes in the last 10 years. We have a good Dual-thread QB coming in which most suspect will be starting next year or at the very least be competing for the job. Got to hold on to him and the other recruits through this rough period. If Morris can actually get some success going, I can see why many were excited about his recruiting potential.

At SMU he had Hicks at QB. I wouldn't call him a brilliant QB, but he was competent in that offense. Point being he doesn't require a fantastic QB like he had at Clemson in Deshaun Watson in order to run that offense. I think he can recruit his way to an acceptable solution there.

He had a pair of really good WRs at SMU in Quinn (now with the Redskins) and Sutton (now with the Broncos). I bet Watson's WRs at Clemson, too, but can't remember who was there then.

There are many good WRs now in the state of Texas, what with the way high schools throw the ball around now. So this seems doable, too.

If he had still another Allen brother at QB, things would look different.

Running Chad's offense with a 6'7" QB is asking for trouble.

We may as well crown ourselves 2018 SWC Champions...again.

One thing that you will see new coaches do is tailor their system to fit players that doesn't necessary fit to their system yet. I'm sure Chad is trying that but it hasn't been working one bit so far and the competition is only getting better which is a major concern in my eyes. Long way to go though.

Kelley is actually fairly mobile for his size. Him and Mallett are about the same size and he moves x10 better than Mallett could, not that it means much.

Kelley has more issues than his mobility as well. He will scramble out of a clean pocket often and just isn't great going through his reads. But he can throw it really, really far so I guess that is cool.
