JM needs to be in an offense similar to what the Saints or Pats run to succeed in the NFL IMO. The shite the Browns were running made it seem like they'd never seen him play.

It's like a rebirth lol

that's crazy. But I will say the coaches were pretty confident on Smith prior to his trip to UCLA. And by pretty confident, I mean they had a spot save for him. UCLA has a way of getting everyone right at the end.

His #1 CB on his board at LSU was Roney Elam

Just to be clear, you mean that Elam was rated ahead of even the other CBs LSU already had committed, including Tolliver?

We basically recovered two guys we lost (Mack and Moore), flipped a 3* from the Sun Belt, and didn't lose Murray. Whoop?

Corners was plural. I love Elam though. But he could also take a year,

yeah, he's more of a project than a polished guy. Played all sorts of positions in 2A so that's to be expected. But extremely high ceiling and I don't think it's going to take multiple years to come to fruition

JM will struggle in the NFL because they, like LSU, are disciplined enough to stop the one thing he does when the pocket collapses. A hook to the left side of the field. He runs straight back for 4 yards and hooks left EVERY DAMN TIME.

Was told Elam/Tolliver were 1a/1b last summer when they thought they were getting both

I want to know this. I also have to believe that Tolliver must be widely inconsistent. Because from watching his highlights (from games and camps), he looks like the best CB I've ever seen in my life. The fact that he isn't the clear #1 CB in the country means he must have weaknesses that I haven't seen on the film. Big play guy.

I'm amazed at how it's gloom and doom after signing one of the top DT's in the country and adding one of the top 5 DC's in the country.

We've had higher-rated classes and the trajectory hasn't exactly been upward year over year. If you're not absolutely stoked for next season based on the off-season moves and signings, I'm not sure anyone can help you. Give me a #12 class and a world-class DC over a #5 class with our previous DC, any day. ANY day.

This has been the best off-season in many moons for Aggie fans.

As the season went on last year, offenses figure out that they needed to doubleteam Garrett. We need someone who can play on the other side of the field who can take some of the pressure off Garrett. Maybe that man is Mack, one of the other recruits or someone currently on campus. But that is something our defense could really use.

we already have the talent on campus. People are too impatient. I love Obioha and Zo for their hard work, but all of our talent on the DL is going to be going into their 3rd year at most. That's usually the point that DL just start to show their promise. Guys that do earlier are generally freaks like Garrett.

Outstanding!

On a related note, do you have any info on what Chavis thinks of the CB talent already on campus, and what he thinks he can do with it?

I tend toward sunshine pumping, I know, but this right here, y'all.

I mean, honestly.

Solid class. Coaching coup. No major recruiting losses.

Let's go

Lol you guys, two of the most successful corners at LSU under Chavis, Mathieu and Claiborne, were not highly touted out of high school. I believe both were 3 star recruits. Dont doubt what Chavis will do with our D next year. If I had to guess it'll be somewhere in the top 50, maybe top 30. With a top 5 offense, thats pretty dang good and it will only get better. Today was a success with Mack.
