Enough that we're a good OC hire away from being a threat again.
We are far, far past the issue of an OC now. If you think an OC will magically erase the locker room issues and the lack of organization and structure in the program, you are in for a rude awakening.

How did Sumlin handle his injury? What specifically is Kyle unhappy about?
Kyle had a separated shoulder and shouldn't have been playing. Coaches made the decision to play him, and he threw 22 straight incompletions against Ole Miss. Sumlin refused to pull him because he didn't want to address questions about why Murray wasn't playing. So Sumlin kept Kyle in there and embarrassed him on national TV. Then, Sumlin continued to deny that Kyle had an injury and announced a QB competition. Kyler "won" the competition and Sumlin relegated Kyle to third-string. Except, Kyle was actually injured and couldn't play. Sumlin portrayed Kyle as an interception-prone quarterback who "lost" his job instead of an injured quarterback who should not have been playing.

some moments of brilliance
What moments of brilliance? He got Chavis because external influences forced him to fire Snyder. If not for that, Snyder would still be our DC.

If we actually fire Spav, and if that is a big part of the reason Kyle is leaving, then I think that is a fair bargain. Something had to change.
Far more complicated than that. Kyle was extremely unhappy with the way Sumlin handled his injury, the multiple so-called QB competitions, and then relegating him to third-string. The last straw was when Sumlin planned on reopening the QB competition for the bowl game.

is it cause our dummy coach is gunna keep spav as OC ?!
The opposite. Spav's impending termination, if anything, only helped encourage Allen's transfer.

we can knock him for it, but that was never a great idea to begin with
Brilliant idea brought to you by Dave Christensen, who was another failed hiring of Sumlin's.

Wish I had seen that. I was done with Sumlin after Ole Miss.

It's criminal to put Sumlin and Fran in the same category as Jackie.

You're generous. I'm in the "burn everything down, let's start over with Tom Herman" boat.

He won't come here
He turned down the USCe job because he was holding out for tu or A&M. He's a Texas guy. I have no doubt he would take the A&M job. Our only problem is if tu fires Charlie. Herman was a GA at tu, so we could very well lose out to the sips.

There is no way under the sun to spin this into somehow being Kyle's fault

It's not speculation. Ask Roger to confirm if you want.

We better hope Tom Herman is still available next year.

There is absolutely ZERO evidence that this theory isn't true. It very well could be. This could be on Kyle, unfortunately we will never know.
Last I checked, a head coach made those kinds of decisions. Isn't that what we pay him $5M for? Regardless of what Kyle said or didn't say, anyone with eyes could see that he was hurt and shouldn't have been playing. The entire world knew that we were never going to win that game if Kyle Allen stayed in. Sumlin left him in because he didn't want to answer questions about why Murray wasn't playing.

I wouldn't want to play for a coach who did that to me either and wouldn't even give me the dignity of acknowledging my injury. Props to Kyle Allen for being a class act through this whole season and his entire time at A&M. He deserved better than this and was let down.
Absolutely agree with this, Tbird. Sumlin lost me that night. Not only did he ship the Ole Miss game in by not putting in Hubenak until it was too late, he completely humiliated and hung a good kid and good Aggie out to dry. A coach, to me, has two primary responsibilities: 1) win football games, and 2) be a father figure to the men under your care. He did neither that night. That's when I realized I was done with him. He is not the man to lead A&M to the promised land.

The Auburn game was what did it for me.
Ole Miss for me. 22 straight incompletions from a kid who had a separated shoulder. Yet, Sumlin left him out there and humiliated him on national TV because he didn't want to answer questions about Kyler Murray. Then, Sumlin spent the rest of the season denying the injury and setting up fake QB competitions to cover it up.

I'd take tyrie over every single one of these guys
I think I would too, because 6'3 guys who run 4.3 40s aren't falling off trees. We are desperately missing that size/speed combo.
With that said, Quartney Davis might end up being the best WR out of TX this year. This was a great early evaluation by Moorehead.

Got WORSE starting the same number of upperclassmen.
And you think that's somehow Jake Spavital's fault?? lol. We lost a first rounder (Ced), a fifth rounder (Harrison), and a guy who got invited to the combine (Gramling). They were all Sherman's guys. We replaced them with Gennessy, Cheek, and Sutherland.
Dave was left with a mess at OL, but he didn't make our OL better in any aspect. In fact, we very likely regressed, though it's hard to tell since our OL was terrible from the beginning of the season until the end. They tried to simplify things by moving toward more of a zone blocking scheme midseason, but that didn't work either. And then they continued to pull linemen, which repeatedly failed. If Dave could have shown improvement in his unit as the season progressed, I would be in favor of bringing him back. However, the reality is that his unit was terrible and never improved. Their technique and alignments were especially bad, and that's 100% on Dave.
