FWIW, Burton in his chat today said that the odds of Murray taking an OV to UTx this weekend are "low".

If it is then that would be a terrible sign for us. It does seem like Lodge might have let the OM staff in on something positive for their side though so I'm pretty skeptical

Honestly, after this NSD, I think I'm about done w/ following recruiting the way I have been. I'll read any wrap-ups or behind-the-scenes stuff that might shed light on how everything will have played out for the 2015 class, but I'm going to take a pass on watching the twists and turns of the 2016 class.

Will the 2016 have this much "excitement"? Who knows, but I'm not going to tune in to find out. I just think that recruits are going to get MORE trollish over the years, not less.

For having a TA subscription or just posting a rumor?

TA is a great product. I don't care if everyone likes Looch or not.

Sometimes the random poster knows what he's talking about.

I agree Texags is great IMO, I really enjoy my premium subscription. The interviews and articles. The forums and interaction have greatly decreased in value to me however. I enjoy the discussion, ribbing and fun over here way more than I ever did on Texags. The group think mentality always turned me off. The Rant is much more engaging as well as the OT and team boards.

Both.

Just poking fun of course.

Saw this on the news section of tRant. Boy am I glad we didn't get the Mattison/Durkin innovative deal and landed Chavis instead.

Wow. I have no words for Mattison.

That's nothing, just wait until Ogeron starts doing really boneheaded stuff. LSU fans are gonna hate us all over again

Did the lack of Mack Brown's influence make this the first Texas recruiting cycle that wasn't determined early in the modern era? Or maybe the SEC effect is pushing back recruiting to a normal place?

Seems like we benefitted from ER, last year was our best class maybe ever and it was very uneventful. Mack had the state conditioned to decide early and stick with the decision, but here we are in 2015 and a lot of guys are going down to the wire.

I know Texas fans would say that Charlie pushed it back to where he was comfortable, and if his strategy of going after committed guys late works I have to give credit. With that said all year Charlie has looked like he was one step behind the curve in relationship building and recruiting, so it cannot be just him. Part of me thinks these Texas guys who are sniffing SEC schools are learning there is another way to live outside of Mack's world.

If early recruiting dies in Texas does it help or hurt us? Seems like it would hurt, as it would allow smaller programs like this years TCU to maximize the benefit from an excellent year. Seems like we benefit more when recruits have to decide long out and they have to look at the bigger picture (aka SEC) and measure the entire package and not just recent football success.

I don't think so. It's not unusual for top guys to wait it out. More importantly, we had a down year with some tough losses. If we would have won 10 games, there would be very little drama right now.
I don't see early recruiting stopping in this state.

I agree with Bob. We opened the door by getting blown out 59-0. Then we have a chance to show a recovery with a strong finish under Allen after upsetting Auburn on the road, but finished the regular season 2-2 with a bad performance vs Mizzou & LSU.

I really wouldn't call those all that bad considering the circumstances. Mizzou went 11-3 winning the East. LSU likely wins 9 if Les would have stuck to running vs ND. Hell, they had Alabama dead to rights and somehow screwed it up.

Both our games we had the opportunity to go ahead or tie in the waning minutes. The Ags did this against two of the best defenses in the SEC with a true freshman QB making his 3rd and 4th starts after a mid-season QB change.

Looking at it in context, the end of the season wasn't so bad at all following the 59-0 defeat and benching of Kenny. The team rebounded to beat Auburn. They played very hard vs Mizzou/LSU showing no quit even in defeat. They then came back from an early 17-7 deficit to beat a West Virgina everyone thought was a nightmare matchup.

I don't know about y'all but considering how much worse the year could have spiraled from the Bama game I'm quite pleased with the actual finish and very optimistic for next year.

Doesn't matter what we think. We left the door open by not winning more games.

I really thought we should have won one of those two games, especially considering both were at home. It wasn't the end of the world though and I don't think winning one of them and going 9-4 makes much of a difference recruiting wise than 8-5

The reason to be optimistic is that we brought in some new coaches.

I'm hopeful that Chavis will give Sumlin the credibility he needs when closing on these final offers...

I'm with you there, but the Bama should have never happened.

The Bama loss is far worse than anything else that happened. That was absolute rock bottom.
