I need to stop following recruiting. It's bad for my health.

Get a damn early signing period NCAA! I'm tired of these 18 year olds fricking with my emotions

Looch says staff was fully aware as well. That still doesn't explain it.

Kevin is doing us a favor in this. Kyler and lodge are gonna have lots of good laughs all the way home. And lodge will now be 100% certain that Austin is not the place for him

tu was never our main competition for Lodge. Neither Hamm nor Looch sounded very positive. Looch:

We'll see where this goes?

We'll see where this goes = they're looking around.

I still believe both players end up wearing Maroon & White = they'll come back.

But, the question is: why are they looking around? People who are 100% solid don't look around.

I'm just going to get this out of the way now to prevent a meltdown: I really don't see either of those guys ending up in Austin. I'd be much more concerned if either prospect returns for an official visit on one of the next two weekends but the afternoon unofficial - while far from an ideal development for the A&M staff or for Aggie recruiting - isn't going to lead to either player signing with the Longhorns. Ole Miss is still the biggest threat for Lodge and the odds still overwhelmingly favor Murray honoring his longtime commitment to Texas A&M and signing with the Aggies.

While my intention is not to downplay the significance of the trip, I do want to be very clear on what it is: A mid-week day trip that is giving the Longhorns and Charlie Strong what they've been pleading for for months now: A shot to show the two Dallas-area standouts what they have to offer in Austin. Ideally, this never would have taken place and it would be disingenuous to say that there's no chance of it becoming a problem for the Aggies but, frankly, it's not something I'd spend of time worrying about for a litany of reasons, not the least of which is all of the behind-the-scenes work that Kyler has put into helping build this year's A&M class and the fact that his relationship with Jake Spavital is second to none (as opposed to virtually no existing relationship with Shawn Watson). I'll be keeping a close eye on this story and working sources on all sides of it between now and Signing Day but I'm truly not expecting much to come of it.

My point? Try to not overreact and refrain from taking anything too personally. Best advice I could give all of you. As I noted in the OP, A&M was not blindsided by this visit though it is worth noting that the Aggies completely shut things down at quarterback the day Kyler Murray committed in late June. Jarrett Stidham is currently taking classes in Waco and would have likely flipped to A&M at any point along the way with nothing more than a phone call.

Goes without saying what a big deal Kyler (and Lodge, for that matter) is to this year's class and to the team as a whole, which is obviously what makes this such a big story.

Hamm:

This trip for Murray is also baseball driven. He's been in contact with the Texas baseball coaches for some time now. That's obviously somewhat due to his uncle, who was a standout at Texas on the diamond

I knew Baylor would have some gem about this, and they didn't disappoint - LINK
