I wish our fans wouldn't constantly compare them but it's kind of inevitable at this point I guess

Anybody know what kind of offense Jake was in last year?
Not 100% sure what Blinn runs but it's a spread of some sort. He was at OSU for a redshirt year before that and they use very similar terminology left over from Holgo's time there. He's picked up the offense pretty quickly

I was referring to our likely QB1 running a scout team 3 weeks before our first game.
The depth chart is pretty fluid at this point in camp. One way to tell if a WR or whatever is playing well is give him a chance with the 1st team QB. They mixed and matched a ton like that all over the field. This scrimmage was mostly about putting together a depth chart so they can start repping the 1s/2s more this week

Carson and White seem solid at the RB position. I saw that Busey is practicing, which is good. Isn't he getting over a knee injury? With Bradford not playing, Dolezal is the only other option there. It's a rough position, I hope Carson and White are available to play on all meaningful snaps.
Kwame Etwi was surprisingly good in the scrimmage. He's a preferred walk-on from Conroe Oak Ridge. He's the #22 in the highlights and you can see he's got really good burst. He's a guy you may start hearing about because he impressed everyone. Appears to be a really good pickup for our depth

I saw Christensen saying in an interview talking about the O-Line. He seems to be thinking:
LT Avery Gennessey
LG ?
C Mike Matthews
RG ?
RT Germain Ifedi
Four of the 5 are set as Cheek is a returning starter at RG and is rock solid (DC loves him). Sutherland ran with the 1s at LG in the scrimmage. I'd also note London is playing exclusively RG which tells me he's not really in the mix to start.

I guess I had just assumed Ifedi with more experience would be at LT. But that doesn't seem to be the plan.
It has to do with skill set. LT is generally your best pass blocker protecting the QBs blind side and RT is often the mammoth guy you run behind. Ifedi will probably never get a shot at LT in the NFL because he's never going to be that slick pass blocker. He's good, but not elite.
So from GI's perspective it doesn't do much for him to showcase him at LT since he's going to be drafted as a RT anyway. And Gennessy is a better pass blocker than Ifedi

Kwame gonna be the best War Eagle RB since Leone

I'm curious what our thoughts are on different personnel packages for defense.
I think we are starting to have a decent idea about our starting 11 in our base 4-3 except for a few here and there.
Who do we think Chavis trots out there with 4+DBs?
Does it seems more likely we bring in a nickel CB or perhaps a backup safety like Wilson/Watts or even one of the freshman studs like Dunning?
Also, I noticed in our game against LSU last year, Chavis ran a fair amount of 3 down linemen and sometimes had a standup rush end or maybe a LB right on the LOS. It seemed like he was really attacking our lateral passing game and taking away space. I could see us running that formation against ASU at times, especially if we get up on ASU early and force them to throw it out.

Why not? What difference does it make if we compare them? The comparisons are natural. They're both small-framed scrambling QBs playing at the same school, for the same coach, in the same offense a few years apart who exhibit a very similar running style.

Harris/Watts/Evans/Ellis/Winner of the other boundary corner spot in obvious passing situations
Switch out Ellis for Dunning in situations or against teams likely to run from 3-4 wide sets
Add in Harvey as a second slot corner for dime packages

Is Ellis ready to go physically? I just feel like we may have better options.
Harris
Williams
Evans
Watts
Dunning is going to play a lot in certain situations.

I have to wonder this as well. Chavis seems to prefer getting as much length on the field as possible in his DBs minus a guy like Matthieu. It all depends on their ability to cover, but I do wonder who will end up being that fifth DB when we have some serious talent at safety right now. Of course it also depends on what the offense is running.

He will. He's more physically mature than most freshman. Had he avoided injury in high school (acl tear if i recall correctly) he probably would've been a 5 star kid. He has a ton of talent and great instincts. He's someone I feel a lot of aggies will be happy with by seasons end and will contribute in many ways this year.

Well, that's the first time I've ever heard the name of Kwame Etwi. I'm a long way from Montgomery county, though.
It's rare for a Freshman walkon to get noticed. He looks short, about Trey Williams' height, which probably has something to do with his walkon status.
Is he just performing better than they expected against big fellas?
Despite all the media coverage of high school players now, I guess there are still some sleepers out there. Josh Reynolds, for example.

So I thought, and still do, that Evans will be the best player and most impactful player in our secondary this year. Seeing and reading about Dunning, it makes me question it a little. I think by 2016 Dunning may be our best defender not named Garrett. I am getting beyond pumped

Thank God for this board and this thread. The TexAgs football board is almost completely useless for real football information. Somebody created a thread asking how Daylon Mack was doing in practice and it turned into yet another dumbass thread of useless bullshite.
I mean Jesus just answer the question. Other than Sex Panther, you're not funny.
