Sam needs to prove that he is a quality QB who can have a good game against a ranked State team, especially after his previous performance while at ASU.
Kiffin needs to show his fanbase that he can get it done against a superior State squad while at home.
Ultimately, tigahs fall 42-17, but LSU fans can point to those 17 points as real improvement on the season and be encouraged. It will be a great moral victory for LSU.

LSU doesn't need to cover, but a loss would cause a spiral in BR. I am not sure even the most faithful Tiger fans and Lane supporters could hold faith in the 2026 team after a loss to a backup State QB at home in Death Valley with a 14.5 to 17.5 pt spread.
