Louisiana passed a law that says no day games in the month of September. People were passing out from the heat.

As noted, nite games in Tiger Stadium are a tradition. Back in the 50's the governor, noting that all the plants' employees weren't able to make day games all but passed a law mandating all nite games so the plants' employees could make the games. The many plants along the Mississippi were union, So.....politics as usual came into play. Plus there were no tv games, so each school was able to set its own game times. As I understand it now, the SEC's tv contract with ESPN gives the network control over game times. There is a negative for some Tiger fans, as there are a lot of LSU fans in north La, 3+ hours away, so nite games gets those fans home late as shite.

LSU has been playing night games even earlier than the 50s (since 1931).

Seems like every game they have had this year has been at night.

That’s because they have all been at night.

LSU was playing night games in Tiger Stadium for 45 years before Auburn stopped playing some home games in Birmingham and 24 years before lights were installed in Cliff Hare Stadium.
