re: I can't believe this is actually real. This is almost as bad as Alabama's NC claims.

The only?

Alabama claims like, half their championships in seasons where they didn't play a bowl or lost.

Yes. The only. There is only one that could be considered disputable, and even that one was awarded by a selector recognized by the NCAA.

Only message board morons claim otherwise.

Looks like they want to wipe their @ss with each fake championship. Kind of appropriate.

The men were returning and enrolling in college by the start of the 1945 season. The war in Europe ended in May and nearly 1.5 million Americans had returned home by September of that year from Europe.

Too bad for you the first games of the season weren’t played until September 29.

It’s almost like they waited until after the war was over to begin regular play that year.

Alabama has one claim that is illegitimate (1941). However, Tennesee's 1940 title, Kentucky's 1950 title and UGA's 1942 title are illegitimate as well.

Cope and seethe.

As others have said:

There has NEVER been an actual national champion in college football because there has never been an actual playoff.

I don’t care if 10 teams claim 2010 National Championships alongside Auburn’s.

It’s all pageantry anyway. The only people that it matters to are recruits. And those guys already believe Auburn’s are legit.

Cherry on top is that our rivals hate it. Good.

1958 is one of those years

So wait they just ignore the fact that there’s consensus national champions like LSU ‘58 and just are claiming titles recognized only by their school?

So why stop at adding 4? Why not add 40?

From a U of Iowa report regarding Auburn's claim of 1958...

quote:

Auburn stipulates it is deserving of a share of the title based on that season's David Montgomery Full Season Championship poll, which named the Tigers' 9–0–1 (6–0–1 SEC) record as its national champion. While Auburn's claim may appear reasonable, there is no documented evidence that such a poll ever existed, making it more of a desperate grab at relevancy.

Auburn is embarrassing itself

Ahh, but we made up for it with that 2021 beatdown of your Heisman Trophy winning QB.

If you don't have the trophy, it's not legit.
