Maybe the kids in the 2018 class see how stacked Bama's 2017 class is especially at certain positions like RB.

Bama has a huge recruiting weekend starting today and Saban has just hired 4 young, ace recruiters to the staff. Bama will finish top 3-4 this year and make a run at the top class in 2019.

The talent instate is a joke this year...Bama got who they wanted though and next yr will be a better year . We recruit nationwide anyway now but Saban always gets the blue chip Bama kids when it's a good year instate.

No the hell Bammer didn't get who they wanted. They would have taken both Coynis Miller and Asa Martin for sure, but both picked Auburn.

Martin was definelty Bama's 2nd choice at RB and didn't get him. Had to go to option 3 at RB.

Miller didn't look that great this year. Malik Langham passed him as the top instate DL.

Ross, the state's top player, is now considered a heavy Bama lean.

Bama has already signed the number 2 player in the state in Armour-Davis.

Langham had an outstanding senior year but he did not pass him as top instate DL. Miller just got a major bump by both 247 & Rivals. He's the #3 player in state based off 247 composite rankings

I think he might even be 2nd ahead of Jaylon Armour Davis once they update the new rankings. He is now rated higher than JAD on both Rivals and ESPN. I don't think the 247 composite fully reflects the new rankings yet

247 just updated the composite rankings. JAD is the 115th player nationally. Coynis Miller is now 117th

Point being , when it's a strong year instate Bama gets whoever they want...It's a fact and no amount of spin will change that. It's not a coincidence Bama's class is mostly out of state guys this year as well as the fact they're having to be selective this year. They recruit on a national landscape now.

Never know about instate talent. Both Auburn and Bama passed on Demarcus Ware.

C'mon, man. Auburn usually gets some of the top in-state guys too.

Exactly, let's say there's a strong year in state...Saban will get about 6-7 of the top 10.

Care to list examples?

Skip 2008 and 2009, as Auburn was undergoing a head coaching change. 2010-present.

Auburn doesn’t? With the technology nowadays, most colleges do.

ETA: I’ll even admit that Alabama has the advantage on in-state recruiting, but they don’t get whoever they want.

Tre Williams
Earnest Robinson
Ladarius Owens
Erique Florence
Reese Dismukes
Jameis Winston (FSU)
Kerryon Johnson

Clemson had limited scholarships when they only signed like 13 players last year.

Was a good article last year about Clemson's tactics regarding their rifle rather than shotgun approach to recruiting.

Could be the same thing going on at Bama.
