This is going to be a small class for Auburn and right now big men are the priority.
But this is also a strange class and we won't really have a clue exactly how it'll look and how many spots there will be until after this season is over.

We have at least one scholarship spot available for next year. It's being opened up by the graduation of a former walk-on who was just awarded it this summer.
The unknown part is whether or not we lose anybody else. Everybody who actually gets playing time is eligible to return next year, and even Austin Wiley who hasn't played this year will be eligible to play again next season.
Both Austin Wiley and Mustapha Heron were projected as late 1st round NBA draft picks before the season, but whether or not they're still projected that high (especially Wiley who hasn't played this season), and whether or not they actually decide to go pro isn't for sure. Most people when talking about next season seem to be operating under the assumption that they both return along with everybody else who is able to return. Which brings is to Danjel Purifoy, the other player who is ineligible to play this year. Unlike Wiley, the NCAA hasn't said yet if Purifoy will be eligible to play again next season. And even if he can return, he seems to be considered most likely to go pro early. He hasn't been a projected draft pick like Heron and Wiley, but Purifoy has always been considered a future NBA player. He's definitely a pro at some level and seems like the type of guy who even knowing he likely wont be drafted this year could be content with starting off in the G-League and working his way up. But then again, one more good season at AU could put him in the draft which would be worth it IMO.
Also if we go on a big run in the NCAAT and get a lot of exposure I'm a little worried somebody like Bryce Brown could get talked into declaring for the draft too early. That happened to USCjr after their Final Four run last year.

Right now we technically have no commits on the 2018 class, but we have a 2019 commit that's supposed to reclassify to 2018.
- 4* LINK, 6'8" 220 pound PF/C from McHeachern HS in Powder Springs, GA by way of Nigeria.

But that's not a sure thing. Even that doesn't happen, I hear there's the grad transfer market will be loaded with big men, so it would make sense for Pearl to look around there.
But if we really do only have the 1 spot available and Pearl doesn't find a player he likes, he's not going to fill it just to fill it. Unless there's an urgent depth situation where we have to have a body and there is no better option, Pearl will never take guys just for the numbers, only guys he really likes.

TL;DR

Auburn's 2018 MBB class:
-Focus: big men
-Available Spots: at least one, very possibly 2, hopefully not more than that but worst nightmare case like 5
-Actual Class Size: can't be sure until after the season, but 0 is possible, 1 is probably, there's potential for 2 but anymore than that is so unlikely is not worth thinking about
-Current Commits: technically 0, sort of 1 (Babatunde Akingbola) but only if he can graduate HS a year early
-Prospect Targets: nobody knows

Vandy is ranked 7th in the nation.
PG Darius Garland
PF Simisola Shittu
SF Aaron Nesmith

Currently trending with country's #1 SG Romeo Langford.
If they can pry him from his home state Indiana Hoosiers they would be ranked #2 in the nation.

FYI - Indiana basketball fans are douchebags, in case anyone was wondering. Would love to see that fan base blow up if he came to Nashville.

We are pretty much wrapped up.

We have two open spots, 1 will go to a combo guard of the grad transfer variety. The other we will bank for next year imo which is going to be a big class for us with McKinney ( LINK)and Liddell ( LINK)

Currently 9th in the nation.

Probably complete unless we see a little more attrition then expected.

5* #20 Reggie Perry

4* #53 Robert Woodard

4* #105 DJ Stewart

3* #4 JUCO Jethro Tshisumpa

In the small chance we add another it will be this guy
3* #128 Tyler Harris

What a strange recruiting trail this has been.

Down to Louisville, Mizzou, and Texas.

LSU has 3 spots left

C/F (6'10, 230) Javan White grad transfer from Oral Roberts is visiting this weekend. He visited UMass last Thurs/Fri and Nevada last weekend and is visiting Clemson this Thursday/Friday and headed to LSU for Saturday/Sunday. Pretty hotly contested grad transfer, averaged 10/9 last season. 2 years to play 2 eligible immediately.

SF (6'6, 210) Marlon Taylor (JUCO - Panola) visited last weekend, will take a couple more visits, but apparently some feel like he's a done deal to here which excites me, this kid is a supreme athlete and a 44% 3 point shooter while also grabbing a ton of boards. 3 years to play 2, eligible immediately

Nice get. AU’s recruiting will depend on these draft reports. Babatunde may reclassify for ‘18 for us, and that may get pushed if Wiley goes pro
