You are so naive. These deals are not negotiated by the coaches or the NIL Collective (who would obviously know because they provide the payments). People not connected with the schools negotiate these deals during the season to get around tampering rules

Hate to tell you, but assistant coaches routinely call agents about potential deals.

It’s not hard to understand. Why would a team let someone walk with 60 tackles for the year??? Obviously because they couldn’t agree on terms. Whether it’s money, playing time, or whatever it might be.
