You’re the one making insinuations of impropriety because you feel entitled to the local kids.
Maybe A&M should do a little more?

My, that certainly escalated.

On a considerably lower scale several years ago my nephew was a fairly decent OL. Texas and A&M did not offer which disappointed him. He was recruited hard by Colorado State's Sonny Lubick. He committed to the Rams.
When he got back home to the Houston area, Ken Hatfield, who was at Rice stopped by to "congratulate" him on his choice. Hatfield then asked him how many opportunities would his family have to see him play since Colorado State did not have any Texas schools on their schedule and it was a long way to Fort Collins from Houston.
He thought about it, called Lubick to decommit, Lubick hung up on him and my nephew played for Rice four years, red shirting once and starting whole four years.
Of course they got demolished regularly but he graduated from Rice and is a very successful person today.
I am pretty sure other coaches do the same.

The University of Oregon and the NCAA agreed together there were improprieties. Look . . .whatever . . . .no point in dragging this out but the media has written extensively and both the Ducks and the NCAA admitted there were recruiting violations. No need to whitewash history.

NCAA places Oregon football on three years of probation
EUGENE, Ore. — The NCAA hit Oregon with three years of probation Wednesday for major rule violations in football recruiting, and former coach Chip Kelly was given an 18-month show-cause order.
The Ducks' football recruiting practices first came under scrutiny in March 2011 for a $25,000 payment to Lyles, who had close ties to several area recruits including running backs LaMichael James and Lache Seastrunk.
Last October, the school submitted a proposal through the NCAA's summary disposition process that agreed to seven major rules violations and proposed self-imposed penalties including the loss of three scholarships over three years, a two-year probation and recruiting limitations.

I do wonder if the dramatic expansion in TV coverage makes a difference. We basically had the Raycom network in the 80s and 90s and would tune in to a game of the week every now and then featuring the major matchups between out of state programs. Now you have pretty much every game on tv.

Oregon is living rent free in your head.
Good luck, Aggie.

5-star OL @Kelvinbanksjr12 said Oregon didn't talk about NIL opportunities much during his OV. It was more about development, what he could be if he puts in the work. Idea that NIL was difference-maker for Ducks is completely false. Relationships were key. (@1080TheFAN interview)

Not really . . .it is not much an Oregon thing at all. The whole street agent topic was a really big topic in Texas for many years. Oregon was not the only guilty party. They just happened to be the most aggressive of the out of state players trying to work that angle via cash payments to these handlers to influence recruits.
Mack Brown was the biggest critic of it by a large margin while he was still coaching in Austin. That is why Oregon's compliance department was overhauled and they plead mercy to the NCAA and Texas kids suddenly stopped having interest in playing way over in Eugene.
But whatever . . . you believe a different narrative than what the University of Oregon and everyone else has already admitted to years ago.
And to the point here . . .I think Chip Kelly greasing up Willie Lyles a decade ago and getting the Ducks slapped with NCAA penalties has very little bearing on why Cristobal is doing well in recruiting. He just seems like a talented coach selling his program well.
The point being made earlier was a pretty obvious one . . .kids commit to out of state schools all the time only to change their minds later. It may not happen here but only a handful of national programs have continually raided Texas successfully . . .historically it was Notre Dame and FSU and Miami but the last two have faded pretty much alltogether.
Right now it is Ohio State and Alabama. I don't count Oklahoma and LSU as they are border states.
Can Oregon be like OSU and Bama? My guess is no and history indicates that but maybe I am wrong.

Phil can simply start a separate entity and sponsor them with that company if Nike has issues with it. The guy is a billionaire. Phil doesn't need the nike to give money to Oregon players

mean if they’re really telling recruits if you come here Nike will hook you up but only if you come here
If they are they're breaking NCAA rules.Folks really need to read up on NIL.Ive seen multiple posts on the rant and on here that keep referencing recruiting and NIL.

Most importantly, the new policy preserves the NCAA’s commitment to fair recruiting and maintains that college sports are not pay-for-play. Under the new policy, schools cannot assist athletes in getting deals, use NIL deals as recruiting incentives or as a way to compensate an athlete

Nike pays everyone, not just Oregon. They just give Oregon a little more.

A "little more" is somewhat of an understatement.
