He’s a good talent for sure.

It’s interesting to see Kiffin gaslighting Jimbo on QB recruiting and then going after Jimbo’s players in the portal. Seems like a real back and forth going on…

Jimbo needs to beat Ole Miss next year.

Talent is talent and Ole Miss is a good platform for wayward kids to settle down and showcase their talents.

Zach Evans is a good analog. He was a total drama queen and basket case his senior year of high school and couldnt make it work at TCU and now has become a really compelling draft prospect.

Marshall will likely do the same.

Couldn't make what work? He led TCU in rushing in 2021 despite some injuries and was 8 yards from leading them as a freshman in 2020. Averaged over 7 YPC. He left TCU because they couldn't come up with compelling NIL deals.Gary Patterson basically said as much.

He wasn't happy with the number of carries he was getting. He wanted to be a feature back. Despite his pretty amazing yard per carry average, he was getting less than 10 carries a game. Evans has said this publicly in many interviews

And the NIL comments from Patterson didn't really fool anyone. Their boosters likely have much more firepower than the Ole Miss backers. His public comments were similar to Sabans . . .it sounded like whining but really was a dog whistle for the money folks in Ft. Worth to step to the table more aggressively (which they have.)

Doesn't matter if they don't commit to it and they chose not to.

We don't know that. TCU has been pretty creative and active in the NIL game and both Sonny Dykes and the TCU Community made a big push when Evans started looking around. LaDanian Tomlinson himself got involved in the effort to keep him.

But maybe Ole Miss stepped up big time with a compensation package that TCU did not want to match.

What am I making up? Do you even pay attention to college football?

If you did, you would know like everyone else that Evans became notorious for his behavior throughout his senior year.

He was suspended from his high school team for disciplinary reasons and the let back on. He then does not show up to a big playoff game because of academic issues

He is then dismissed from his team again the day before the state title game.

He setup his commitment ceremony during the UA All American game only to back out of it real time. It turns out that something caused Georgia to drop him like a hot rock and Kirby Smart, while not specific, had this to say:

quote:

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart never publicly commented on Evans, but back on National Signing Day he was asked about the importance of character when targeting prospects. Evans was suspended multiple times during his high school season, including for the state championship game.

And Smart’s answer seemed to be pretty telling as to why Evans didn’t end up at Georgia, as talented as he is.

It should never be the only thing, but it’s definitely the most important thing,” Smart said. “The older I get, the more wiser I get, the more you realize that chasing guys who don’t believe in the same principles and values of your university and of your program, they’re just not worth it.”

Do you pay attention to college football? He was fine at TCU. He's been fine at OM.

Sometimes the student athletes need better leaders and structure. Seems to be that these student athletes adjust well to playing at OM.

That is certainly how a partisan homer fan might size things up. Reality is though that knucklehead kids finally realize that they have to stop screwing around and focus to achieve their dreams and that usually happens when they are falling back to second or third options.

No one dreams of being bounced from your top school of choice for disciplinary reasons and having to start looking for opportunities at places that you did not even consider the first time around.

Evans and his HS coach did not get along. This is well documented and there's more to the story than a cell phone incident. We tend to blame the kid in this situation almost 99% of the time even though the blame is usually on both parties. It's always the kid's immaturity, upbringing, etc, and never the coach's pride, ego, etc.

Was Zach immature as a 17/18 year old? Sure, most are. Was he a basket case? No. Could he "not make it work at TCU?" Yes, he could and he did. They did not want him to leave.

Not sure why Zach is always used as the poster child for these kinds of conversations. And as for Kirby Smart, there's a RB on his current roster that did far worse things in high school than Zach did. His generic coach-speak answer doesn't mean much to me.

Anyways, this has nothing to do with Chris Marshall.

I posted his words. I know you are dug in here and just wanting to troll but there is plenty of public records.

quote:

The former five-star running back from Houston transferred to Ole Miss this winter after spending his first two college seasons at TCU. Injuries and scheme limited Evans at TCU, where he averaged more than 7 yards per carry in back-to-back years but averaged fewer than 10 carries per game.

"I think I was underused," Evans admitted. "Not a knock against (TCU). I'm not saying they don't know what they were doing. But I feel like I could've done a lot more and contributed a lot more to the team."

TCU did not work for Zach Evans

And he was pretty dishonest in sneaking out the backdoor.

quote:

Evans made the inevitable, or what seemed to be inevitable, official Thursday when he tweeted that he was committing to Ole Miss after two seasons at TCU. Twitter is how Frogs coaches learned of his decision, and as of Friday afternoon he had yet to contact them.

Evans’ decision comes after weeks of him assuring the new coaching staff that he was not going to transfer. The coaching staff spoke with Evans multiple times after he entered the transfer portal Nov. 28, and TCU legend LaDainian Tomlinson also attempted to convince Evans to stay.

“He’s been telling us for months he 100% decided he was coming [back],” Dykes said. “I started to hear some rumblings about some stuff, and we would talk to him and he was like, ‘No, none of that is true. I’m 100% coming.’ He’s been telling us that since we got the job.

“We were like, ‘How certain are you?’ And he was like, ‘100%.’ There was no hesitation.”

And did it work out for the kid? He had 8 carries last night in a loss to Texas Tech in a meaningless bowl game. TCU is in the CFP.

And it is not Delta Airlines doling out NIL, it is Blue Delta Jeans Company.

$450 Dollars!

Grass is definitely not greener through the transfer portal.

While Blue Delta Jeans is also one of our NIL partners, so is Delta Airlines and their Wheels Up program.

Yes, he was. Marshall, Harris, and PJ were not only kicked off the team, but kicked out of school. Coming back to A&M wasn't an option.
