If this situation really came down to NIL, you can't blame Arkansas for having a better pitch than Texas. Blame Texas for not ponying up more if they really wanted him (he's currently ranked No. 1 in the country, so I think it's safe to say they indeed would still want Holland at Texas).
It's RT and the Texas program's fault for not playing the game for what it is.
Odd that this didn't come to fruition until last month after he stayed committed long after Beard was formally terminated. But thems breaks
If this was truly a money/NIL-based decision, Texas only has themselves to blame.

Yeah, you are missing the point.
If we simply got outbid from the beginning, you wouldn’t hear me say a word.
Whatever we were offering him.. he agreed to sign with Texas for that amount. Then he decided that he wanted more. That’s bullshite no matter the sport, no matter the team.
A similar example would be if he signs with Arkansas now for whatever the price is.. then says.. I want more.. and decides to go play for Kansas or whatever.
Where do you draw the line? I’m not against the kids getting paid, but once they sign, that should be it until at least the next year. If you want more, don’t sign until you get the amount you think you deserve.

The combination of the transfer portal and NIL has gotten way out of hand, the NCAA should have thought it out better.
But, for now, it is what it is and you have to play the game.

Maybe he wants to be on a legit team next year. Texas will struggle to be top 25 next year

What if the Hogs offer him the same or less than UT did, and he just wants to go to a program that will prepare him better for the NBA and get him drafted higher?

Entirely plausible. I think the hangup on the Texas fans' end is if that were the case, why would Holland string Texas along for months after Beard had been formally terminated?

The players that left may have played a role as well. Arkansas is not exactly notorious for cheating. Texas set the bar for paying players. Y'all forget we were in the same conference for decades. Even if we did tamper, you'll get no concessions from us after dealing with cheating arse Texas teams for a century.
It's pretty obvious that coming to Arkansas is in his best interest. Maybe he wanted to wait until the end of the school year to avoid dealing with as much fall out as possible?

Please, humor me: could you provide the laundry list of infractions against Texas that kept sleeping giant Arkansas down for so long? Since you dealt with it for a century, it should be pretty easy to dig up...

The nice part about this situation for me is I don’t care if he comes here or not. That wouldn’t have been true for me before Muss got here. I’d really like to get him though.

This why horns fans will always be the scourge of the rant.
Massive advantages that rarely deliver and fans that deny what was obvious to people who know and watch football.

Also, does being crowned the best athletic department the last two years count as "rarely deliver"? How about advancing in men's basketball (you know, the sport that's under discussion in this thread) further than any other team in the conference?
Asking for a friend...
ETA: oof... no answer. Guess that one stumped him

Plus we think we're better than everyone else.
