sure it doesn't bother you, because there is not much talent coming from bama. they have to get it somewhere.
Do you realize that an Alabama or Auburn team has participated in the last SIX Nat'l championship games, or playoffs? Now, do you realize how stupid your post makes you look?...probably not.

There isn't enough elite talent in the state for one major program, let alone two, to fill a majority of their class.

The national Alabama fanbase isn't growing, just the national Saban fanbase. Guys want to come play for Saban and he has a national presence. A better question would have been when Saban retires, do Bama fans worry that the inroads in the state may be disrupted and hurt a new potential coach if he doesn't have that national appeal and has to look locally? Or Saban picks kids up from everywhere without maybe creating a Pipeline sort of speak, will that hurt a new coach?

Any coach that's going to win at a high level at Alabama is going to have to recruit well on a national level. That's not going to change when Saban leaves. This isn't Louisiana. We have less in-state HS talent, and we have two major programs trying to nab it.

Maybe this should be asked about LSU as well. 2007 is starting to fade.
I think that's what the OP is addressing.
LSU's recruiting classes have been right up there with Bama's in that stretch, but has had a lot more early departures for the NFL. Had we been able to retain more of those guys for a 4th year, I think we might have had another title run since then.

My opinion from the outside- I don't think where a kid comes from makes a difference; I think being part of an ongoing string of titles motivates players to stay. Now that Bama is a couple years removed from their last title, I think that draw is gone, and we might see a lot more Tide players leave early.

Of course the opposite might occur- you now have 3rd year guys without a ring, and if Bama doesn't win next season, guys will be faced with a choice to leave early for the NFL, or stay to try for the ring they all expected they'd have several of.

Regarding Bama recruiting, I think it's pretty important that they win another title in the next 2 seasons. Right now, they're in everybody's top 2 nationally- a recruit can sign with his favorite team, or can sign with Bama and win a title. If the "guaranteed ring" goes away, I think Bama becomes a normal, mortal team again. Not collapse, but won't be the national force they are now.

I think that has happened with LSU some and has led to guys leaving early. Alabama has probably handled this better than most.

That's because LSU can't find a QB that can complete a forward pass. When you have competence at the QB and head coach position you don't get decimated when guys leave early.

Probably worries a lot of people. They aren't Bama fans, though

Yup. It bothers me because we have to play against your talent every season. Kind of sickening actually.

We lost a ton of guys after we won titles.

Guys at Bama just listen to the advice they get from Saban. Guys who stay usually improve their draft stock.
