Maybe Matthews can be the LB that Perkins doesn't want to be? They are the same size from what I understand. Still, we need some more safety depth as well

I thought Perkins was a little heavier.
Still, LSU is in a pretty good place at safety right now, it just sucks to lose an in state 5 star.

He didn’t really play defense in high school right? Is playing LB as easy as being an amazing athlete. Obviously you want a guy like Perkins, just not sure I was sold on his immediate play time

I've watched Perkins play in HS. His lateral speed is impressive.

Is it a similar situation to Devin White? I recall he had interest in playing RB but we convinced him to come to LSU as a LB. That worked out well enough.
