I don’t mind Lindsey at all but if it turned Simon off, then yea it doesn’t sit well with me. Cause this is a deep RB class in-state & there was no reason to rush on Lindsey. Now if Simon turned cold & they made a move for Lindsey, fine. He is definitely an LSU caliber athlete I just prefer a few others as runners.
Going to be watching this kid from Dutchtown as he has a little bit more physical presence vs some of these other guys in LA

Simon had plenty time to commit

Yep, If he changed his mind soon, he could still get in. He is after something else.

I wouldn't be surprised if they took 3 Rbs. I mean nobody knows what will happen with Holly and we losing Wiliams next year.

Good point - would nor disagree

Good thing teams don’t give ultimatums like emotional fans do

Trust the coaching staff on this one

I trust they are still recruiting Simon & aren’t crying that he didn’t commit right away

He is nice.
Sometimes he looks smooth and powerful. On a couple of the other long runs it looks like he is struggling at top speed
I also noticed he slows down on some cuts in the open field. So hard to judge some of these rbs off these small, horribly filmed hudls.
I do agree with va that Simon just has that floor that you look for. He does all the small things well. Just looks comfortable in all settings

You cant just go on offer lists. Sometimes kids get a big offer, jump on it and have no interest in anyone else and dont rack up much in the form of other offers.
The fact Lindsey has skyrocketed up the rankings on both 247/on3 though should be a pretty tell-tale sign what people think about him. Keep in mind thats not LSU people ranking him. I'll also add Lindsey's huge bump up into Top 150 nationally on on3 came BEFORE he even had an LSU offer.
LSU got on em too fast and nobody is prying em away.
I personally think Simon is the 2nd best RB in Louisiana, but i like Lindsey too, especially the blocking and receiving. This really doesn't bother me.

Chalky based on this video what do you think Berry’s ht/wt Is?
Posted on 6/6/24 at 8:17 am to Lester Earl
Berry measured in at 5-10 182 lbs at On3's NIL deal this past week. His 8.5" hands are a bit of a concern to me regarding fumble potential. They don't seem to hurt his ability to snag a ball though.
Underwood was 6-4 214 lbs. Over 10" hands.

He'll need to put on some weight for sure. Hopefully it doesnt affect his speed at all

What would you have said if LSU waited on Simon, Lindsey committed elsewhere,, and then so did Simon. LSU is there with their members in their collective hands. And I've seen this exact scenario play out many times before.

Nice find. He is as tiny as he looks then

There are 3 other RBs in LA (soon to be 4?)
with better offers than Lindsey. My guess is they would replace him with one of them. Whether you think they are better or not is 1 thing but they are at least comparable

I'd love to have Simon, but I'm not that worried about him going elsewhere.
We have Jackson for 2 more years. Durham is a stud that can score if he gets the slightest crease and we are adding Berry and Lindsey. We'll add more RBs with varied skill sets in the next couple years and be very good at the RB position. We'll also have a DT QB that will help create more opportunities for the run game by forcing defenses to respect the QB run.

1st of all, I certainly concede I am no expert on evaluating football talent at the skill positions and gladly defer to your expertise.

And I think we're on the same page that the RB room has been subpar for years by LSU standards. (Love them all, but Nick Brossette, Ty Davis-Price, Josh Williams, and Logan Diggs should never be the best backs in the room here)
Maybe you said it--I haven't read the 1st couple of pages of this thread since they were 1st posted--but reading between the lines, it seems like part of the reason you're so high on Simon is that you're not sold that RB is Berry's best position, and you think Simon has the traits to be RB1 at LSU and would maybe move Berry to WR? I know you think he's a great athlete, but do you think it's in both his and LSU's best interest to play him in the slot, get him some quick hitters, bubble screens, jet sweeps, whatever--just get the ball in his hands around the LOS and let him go to work and make people miss? WRs are certainly more valuable in the NFL than RBs right now. But who's his comp?
Or do you just don't think he's too small to be RB1 and the 15-20 touches that come with that and is better suited as a complimentary back who can come in and give you 8-12 and hopefully pop a couple 40+? Forget the '24 and earlier classes for this exercise. When this '25 class is getting most of the work, what's your ideal usage if we took your 3 favorites from this class? I'm genuinely curious what your best case looks like.
