His brother is the prize. James is a nice player on his own, but much more attractive as a package deal. Their daddy played at texas, and they will both end up in austin unless Herman shits the bed.

Which seems like a pretty strong possibility.

I think LSU and Alabama are real players for both.

The #1 C is more than a consolation prize.

Texas has produced one draft pick on the OL the last 10-12 years? And Herman seems like a guy that’s coaching for his job soon. Legacy or not, both would be better served to go elsewhere.

It's 50/50 Alabama and texas by 247 composite. I like Wiltfongs prediction to Alabama.

Mike Roach, Texas247, just wrote the following and CBd both Brockermeyer brothers to Alabama with a 7 confidence.

quote:

After gathering as much information as possible, I feel strongly enough that both brothers are leaning towards Alabama and I’ve changed my pick to reflect that. I was told that the decision is not final, but the Tide have separated from Texas as of right now.

Coming off of a Sugar Bowl victory, Texas was in a prime position to land the legacies. Last season’s results and the massive coaching turnover stalled momentum for Texas and allowed the Crimson Tide to capitalize. In checking with sources around the family, I’m told that Herb Hand recruited them harder than any other coach, but Texas is at a deficit when it comes to pitching NFL development.

I’ve said for many months that I think the hardest thing they’d have to overcome is the fact that they grew up dreaming of playing at Texas and that chance was in front of them. After talking to some sources near the family, I believe both boys have overcome that and are prepared to make a choice to go elsewhere.

Getting Latham and the Brockermeyers would, obviously, be a massive win for Alabama.

Looks like this one is a done deal. Longhorns I talked to say "there's no such thing as a legacy anymore"

LSU, Bama, fake UT., and Auburn

The top Texas and Auburn mods have CBd James and Tommy Brockermeyer to Bama. So have Tim Watts (BOL Editor) and Steve Wiltfong.

If his brother is ok playing right tackle- they may go to Bama.

I will bet the house on Latham being a 3 year starter.

The Brockermeyer brothers are going to Bama. There will be opportunities for JC Latham and Tommy Brockermeyer to both win starting OL positions as freshmen and for both to be starting OTs by their 2nd season. Bama determines and starts their best five OL group, which sometimes results in an elite OT playing OG initially, as Evan Neal did in 2019. Neal will most likely take over for Jedrick Wills at RT this fall. Wills was a first round pick to play LT in the NFL. Neal will likely be a first rounder after his junior season in 2021. After the 2020 season, Bama's senior LT Alex Leatherwood (also a starter at OG initially) will likely be a 1st round pick and starting OC/OG Landon Dickerson and OG Deonte Brown are also likely to be drafted pretty high. All of these NFL draftees, including early departures, will leave Bama with their college degrees.

Sure there is, but not all legacies are the top player at their position and even more heralded than their All-American and NFL-alum father out of high school.

Would be a tough loss for Herman, and maybe even more so Herb Hand, but Tommy wants to go to the NFL (duh), and Texas just hasn't produced near the numbers as Alabama has in terms of prospects departing for the next level.

Thus, I would "respect this decision" if he chose Bama
