Should be
1. Bama
2. A&M
3. Auburn
4. LSU
5. Georgia
Georgia loses players they want from the state every year. LSU has the biggest hometown recruiting advantage in the country.
A&M turned the state of Texas into Aggie ccountry
Auburn has no built in fanbase amongst top athletes yet pulls in top 10 classes even after shitty seasons
Tennessee under Butch Jones will be in competition as the years go on. Hard to tell after one year filled with legacies

Burch has never pulled in a class better than Les but you rank him second?

LSU recruits better than both Auburn and A&M. Its actually funny that you think otherwise.

Well if you just ignore the situations the schools are in then yeah. For example, Louisiana has better talent year in year out than Alabama. Auburn also has to compete with Bama for all of its in state talent where as LSU just has to hold off out of state teams.
A&M has to compete with Texas and other schools for their in-state talent.
So, Auburn could have superior recruiting abilities and not out recruit LSU.

Your total class has to do with the whole staff. He's just talking about the Head Coach's abilities. There's no real way to know this though.

As Weagle pointed out, not only does Louisiana have some of the best talent but there is no other top tier CFB institution in LA. They have the hometown advantage and to add lighter fluid to that situation, ya'll have a very loyal fanbase. Before last year (which still was good) how many LA kids would even entertain going out of state if LSU wanted them?
LSU recruits better than Auburn and A&M but LSU also has it easier (which is a compliment to the program just accept it

You need to look at the 247 GA composite lists. Georgia does horribly compared to other schools. Ya'll have a hard enough time getting players from your own state. Alabama and Florida have better showings in their states and they have competition from other BCS teams in conference

Ask anyone in the Southeast, Tennessee has as good a recruiting staff as anyone not named Bama.
It still kills me Dabo didn't go hard for Thigpen. He's gonna be a pain in our side for years
.
I'd have em:
1. Bama
2. Tennessee
3. UGA
4. Texas A&M
5. Auburn

Comparing in-state recruiting in Alabama to in-state recruiting in Georgia is comparing apples to oranges. Put Alabama's staff at UGA, and they likely don't do that much better.
Florida got 0/10 of their top 10 player. So no, they don't do better in-state.
ETA: Do our out of state recruits not count?

LSU recruits just as well instate as it does out of state....we are going to hit the out of state recruiting hard this year. AND, recruiting in LA can be tough...errrreboddy wants our recruits. It aint always peaches and cream...but, Miles still gets it done out of state when we need to. He's the man

I like what butch has done on the recruiting trail. But he isn't better than Sumlin. Sorry. And he definitely isn't better than Les.

Florida is the fiercest recruiting grounds in the country and FSU does just fine. If you look at the top 12, the rate of kids who stay in state is higher than in Georgia. Georgia can't get kids to stay in state. The big programs in the florida between the 3 of them do

Sure but you just need to realize how as the clear flagship program of your state, you don't do a good job recruiting it. There is a reason why UGA in the 247 composite since 2010 has more classes ranked below Auburn and a worse avg class despite Auburn have two new first year coaches over that time frame. It's because ya'll just aren't great recruiters
Auburn literally has no built in advantage geographically. Read the AU board, people always talk about how we never are the clearcut leader for top rated kids. Georgia is at the beginning of every cycle for 3-5 top 50 type players easy if not more. Just don't see ya'll pulling them all through

They have a bigger talent pool too

You act like this isn't true for Georgia as well. It's the same way at this point, especially in Atlanta.

The Florida schools also don't have three major recruiting powers within 45 mins of the border (FSU, AU, Clemson) and don't have a situation where major in-state talent pools are actually closer to OOS schools. This doesn't even take into account Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and USCe all in easy striking distance.

Yes, we can. Some very good ones in fact.
Usually Auburn fans understand the recruiting scene in Georgia a little better. It's nothing like in-state recruiting in Alabama.

Well yeah, our defensive staff since 2010 may as well have not existed in recruiting. frick Grantham

Now you're talking out of your arse. Last cycle, Rashaan Evans and Dontavious Russell were legacies. This cycle, AU was Daron Payne's childhood favorite and Darius Slayton is a legacy

There is NO reason that UGA hasn't won 4 Natty's in the past 15 years other than recruiting. You guys recruit certain positions as well as anyone, RB, LB, TE, WR are great. But on the OL/DL and DB, you haven't kept up with Bama/LSU which you should have with the continuity in Athens with Richt. Rocker is a great DL coach, but outside the ATL he doesn't care to recruit.
Posted on 3/4/14 at 9:55 am to jrljr
I think most Georgia fans are very aware that we recruit some positions much better than others. Our biggest hole has been on the OL, traditionally. We actually have always recruited well on the DL, not sure why you included them.

So you admit UGAs recruiting hasn't been up to par? I can admit that with Pruitt y'all should get better but the effect is yet to be determined.
So in 2 years we have 3 kids with ties that are Auburn leans to start. Not including the fact that early Tashaan said he wanted to leave ( we still ducked that up ).
UGA easy has 5 kids that grow up UGA fans and is their dream school every single cycle
