Why are we recruiting him? Don't see much on his Rivals to make him look super attractive.

I don't think we're actually recruiting him, just wondered what he was up to these days.

I always thought he'd make a good LB, ala Karlos Dansby...

Some updates from Bryan Matthews:

- Arik Armstead and Stefon Diggs are scheduled to visit on Jan 13. He considers Cal to be Armstead's leader and Auburn to be Diggs', but only slightly

- The top 2 candidates to replace Yeldon are Todd Gurley and I'Tavius Mathers. Mathers is committed to Ole Miss. Coaches want them to visit in Jan, preferably on the 13th.

- He considers Auburn the slight leader for Channing Ward, and Alabama the slight leader for Jordan Jenkins

- Jovon Robinson will likely qualify, the coaches aren't worried. His issues have been blown out of proportion

What can you tell us about these two? I haven't heard these names before.

TIA.

Gurley is very good, he's a 4* on all sites but Rivals. Good size and extremely fast. I would be very happy if we can somehow steal him. He was arguably the best offensive prospect in the Shrine Bowl All-Star Game.

Mathers is very solid as well. He's been recruited by alot of schools but was mostly considered as a backup plan by the top schools, including us. He'd be a solid replacement, he's a well-rounded back

Just read from Mattehws that Cassanova is taking visits to FSU and Clemson next month. CM says he is "pretty solid" to AU, but wants to make sure he has made the right decision.

Sounds like Mathers might be this year's Tre Mason.

Says we'll see...

He has to get 3 or 4 online classes verified from what I have read.

Something happened that caused several of his top schools at the time to back off. The top two rumors were grade problems and a health problem.

Bama doesn't give cash on the spot.

They give cars after the LOI is in. I've already covered this.

Maybe the fact that he hadn't even taken the ACT yet scared some coaches

it wouldn't surprise me if his grades issues were blown out of proportion.... people see 'memphis' in his bio line and immediately assume he's gonna be a grade risk.
