I would not be surprised if many of these money-first players flame out or end up transferring from school to school (Quinn Ewers?). The football-first programs will win out in the long run. I see many of these primadonna NIL chasers being "me, me, me" cancers that will not put in the work or think team first. Just watch.

We'll see how it all plays out.

A lot of times when a new "craze" comes along, lots of people get into a frenzy and do whatever it takes to get in first.

How often does it play out favorably for those who do?

I guess it does sometimes, but more people can point to and recall "tulip mania" and all those Cryptocoin crashes than times when those who bought into the hype early were successful.

We are absolutely getting into bidding wars where we see value, we’re just not winning them so far

Games? We talking about games?

Nah, son. We talking about ‘crootin’. Probably the single most important reason he was hired. And we got shite for QBs behind AR and guess what…

Every 4/5* QB has already committed or heavy leans somewhere else. We’ll probably end up taking some 3* from a 1A school in the panhandle that’s no better than Miller at best.

here's some perspective from Ryan Day

https://thespun.com/more/top-stories/ryan-day-reportedly-reveals-how-much-ohio-states-roster-costs

quote:

Day has reportedly revealed it's going to cost $13 million in NIL deals to keep his current roster intact.

The top quarterbacks reportedly garner close to $2 million from NIL deals. The best offensive tackles and edge rushers come in at around $1 million.

CFB is now being ran as a business and UF isn't in the business of running a business.

“Florida is the most dysfunctional collective in all of college football,” Caspino said. “I plan on steering my clients away from them. From my standpoint, I never ever want to deal with them again. If it weren’t for the collective that’s completely dysfunctional at Florida, he probably would have been there.”

"There should be a fair amount of concern in Florida right now...At Florida there is a lot right now that needs to change...To be blunt, Florida has not adjusted to it (NIL). Notice I didn't say Billy Napier, I said Florida."

"How would you drive on the interstate tonight if you were 100% certain there were no cops in front of you...A lot of folks in college football are realizing this now at different speeds...Whatever can be done right now, Florida's not doing enough of it."

"You can do one of two things. You can either recalibrate your expectation level and lower it and say 'good solid 7-win season, that's what we want, Billy' or you can give him the resources [Napier] needs to go out and compete."

"He's never going to come out and say it, but I don't think he's operating on a level playing field with some of the other staffs he's asked to compete against. I don't think he's operating on the same playing field as Georgia. I don't think he's operating on the same playing field as Miami. And that's gotta change or you better be comfortable finishing second and third and watching these recruiting battles turn at the last minute."

"I'm not absolving this staff....Florida is going to have to take one on the chin in the 2023 recruiting cycle. What do they do moving forward? And what position is the staff put in moving forward."

"How anybody doubted Miami would get their act together in recruiting is beyond me. That's the dumbest thing in the world....Mario Cristobal is a psychopath when it comes to recruiting. They will never not be good at it."

Keep telling yourself that. Georgia wasn’t stacking up all those #1 and #2 classes up with no history of being a championship team because Kirby was a great coach. He learned from the best and whoever isn’t paying the money now, will easily get passes over by the vast majority of top 100 recruits. It’s going to be NIL 1st for at least 80% of the top recruits now.

Bama insiders on other sites are saying we also lead for McLain after getting a commit from Tony Mitchell last night.

Maybe. They’re trying to find elite level players who see the NFL as their big paycheck. They want to avoid the NIL first guys because they are going to be the first one in the portal. Obviously you have to have some of those cats too.
