Assuming that ability is not the issue, it could only be one of two things:
1. Academics - seems that academics are/were and issue at one point.
2. Character - CBB is very careful about this aspect as well. He commented once that if he saw a recruit being disrespectful to his mother, that he would drop him just for that.
Only reasons that I can think of. Don't know that he's guilty of either one or both of them.

From what I can gather, this kid doesn't show up to practice half the time and doesn't do school work. He only wants to play football

I'm sure he knows but in Saban's case he just doesn't give a frick. Look at the situation you're in now. If he only wants to play football then Bama is a perfect situation for him.

The kid buys into process or gets processed Saban has that power arky does not.
I met a guy who played for Bert at Madison. Remember him saying that if you are a 4th or 5th year guy you love him. If Bert doesn't think he has what it takes to thrive in his program that's his choice

I'll be surprised if he plays a down of college football. He's got a learning disorder but if any school can work black magic it's Bama or Ole Miss, Florida St., USC, Oklahoma and to an extent Texas.

Damn... people trying to make more of this shite than it is. Bama can take a commitment from a talented kid like this and it's not even a real gamble for them. If it looks like he won't qualify come January/February, they can just as easily tell him to take a hike, and take a plan 1-B guy for the spot. Arky doesn't have the luxury to try and swoop in late and bring someone back into the fold. It's not butt hurt, it's just demand based "dominoes". Other than a few obvious jokes, Arky fans ITT have been pretty honest about the situation even.

Let me try to put this into some context.
If a highly recruited young man from Tuscaloosa County or Paul Bryant High was not offered by Saban and committed to Arkansas would you not raise at least one eyebrow?
I have no knowledge of the facts behind Akial's character, grades, or ability to play in the SEC and speculating on such would be unfair to him on my part.
If he suits up for Alabama I can only wish him well in all games not against the Hogs.

Arky fans are a pretty humble lot so I don't see them getting butthurt over this and I dont sense it from any of the posts however HAHAHAHAHA WE JUST WENT IN AND LAID SHOP

not only that his high school is NEXT frickING DOOR to the U of A. you can't go pulling schollys like that to a pipeline school.
