Mullen has to do this. Time to earn that pay raise. Im pretty sure they fired Butterteeth because his recruiting was awful.
what better way to get in good with a fanbase then swinging for the fences.

Fields is about as solid to UGA as a recruit can be. In fact, he is one of our top recruiters.

Its a nice gesture, and I get why he did it, but Fields is a Dawg.

Although our season is technically over, I'm going to break my silence and say: I'm wholeheartedly against even looking at Fields and I think it's a giant waste of everyone's time, as well as a spit in the face to Corral who has been with us through everything.

We have like a 5% chance to flip Fields, and we're going to risk the #3 Pro-style passer (who also runs a read option where he's from)???

This makes no sense to me.

I see what you did there...

He "fits" Auburn too, and that didn't help them.

It's not over yet, and he's a shitty fit for Chaney and UGA.

I'm not sure who's more excited about Mullen visiting him at Harrison more, UF fans or AU fans

Florida should have learned their lesson when they tried to flip Eason. Evidently they are about to get round 2.

We can agree he'd be DJ Shockley 2.0. Under utilized and in a system that doesn't fit his game.

Fields isn’t a JUCO so AU would be useless to him as well.

He'd be a bettter fit for AU, but I suppose handing the ball off and throwing less than 20 times a game appeals to him.

It’s never been fully explained to me why a dual threat QB can’t excel in a pro-style offense. They do so in the pros, after all.

I'm kind of with you on this one from an outside perspective. I do kind of wonder if there is concern from Mullen that Corral may already be interested in other programs knowing that he's not exactly a fit for what Mullen has done offensively. If so, then I get it.. otherwise, if you feel confident that you keep Corral all things remaining equal, this just feels like a gross miscalculation.

He must hate all the RPOs Chaney has Fromm running....

And am I incorrect in recalling that Fields has said he knows he needs to demonstrate that he is a pocket passer first to get to the NFL

I'm sorry man, I had to comment on this because it involves both our schools.

Corral recruited for us and is one of the few people who never ever waivered when it came to us losing our HC. This just doesn't make sense to go for the #1 when we have the #3 in the bag.

I was kidding man... to your credit, you did honor it... unlike gaytlgator over on your boards.

Yeah... I thought it was very odd to say the least. The only thing that would reasonably make sense is if Mullen somehow got the sense he was going to go and I hadn't seen anything to indicate it thus far at least.

I've always gotten the sense that Corral was one of those kids who would be "all in" up until the point that he wasn't. If Mullen isn't sold on his skill set, I could see him making some other moves and considering Corral a flight risk.

You can tell quickly who has and hasn’t watched much of our offense this season when they say that Fields isn’t a fit for our system.

For starters, he’s good enough to fit any system. They’re just assuming that he should pick the one that will be more QB run heavy, for whatever uninformed reason that is.

Secondly, Chaney has been accused of not being adapting to mobile quarterbacks while we’ve been successfully executing rpo’s at a pretty significant rate.

I'll be the Auburn fan that thinks Fields stays. If he is as good as advertised he is system agnostic, and I doubt he is too scared off by Fromm. (Even though truthfully Fromm has been very good for a true freshman)
Fields at worst is the #2 next year as I doubt anyone thinks Eason stays, and Fields probably thinks he can get the starting job.
I think all kids should examine all options, but I doubt Mullen pulls him. I do think Fields should at least listen, though, because as goofy as he is Mullen does a pretty nice job developing QBs, and has a better track record than Chaney. In the end I kinda doubt Kirby loses his top recruit.
