LSU hasn't offered because his grades are BAD. Until he gets those in order, we won't be offering.
Definitely not just grades, we've offered guys early in the past who didn't qualify either.
It's a lot more due to him not having a true position in Aranda's 3-4 right now, so he's lower on the board vs. bigger guys at DE like Buggs, Mathis and Wilson and elite pass rushers for OLB like Chaisson.

I don't disagree with you...however, Arkansas has been hitting up LA pretty hard...especially those guys that aren't on the current LSU radar. If we haven't offered a 4* DE in LA without an LSU offer, then there is more to the story

It's more grades than where he fits. I can use the same logic to say we offer tweeners all the time. We put out fliers on guys who are borderline academically, but they are typically out of state offers, just like the other offers for Jones are. It's not looked upon kindly if you pull the offer and give it to someone else once you know the kid isn't going to qualify, so LSU tries not to burn that bridge in-state. He has camped before, and Ed O likes him, but the staff is prettymuch trying to motivate him to get his grades in order before they give out the offer. His entire family met with the staff last time he was on campus, so you have to believe that's what they talked about.

Just saying if he wasn't such a tweener, he'd likely have an offer regardless of grades. Over on 247 they even said as much he's just too much of a tweener right now and they dont know where he fits, he's just lower on the board. Too small/weak to play 3-4 DE and doesnt have the pass rush ability to play 3-4 rush OLB.

Grades wouldn't become an issue until after first semester of his senior year. He still has 2 summers and a whole year of high school to get that in order.

Arkansas does the same thing to its in state/local kids. Makes them camp first. Meanwhile, out if state schools are throwing offers at them. Very annoying

12 months from graduation and you pretty sure he is going JuCo? No one knows 12 months out. You can do a lot of magic in your SR. year.
If it's bad enough to be talking about it 12 months out then it's bad enough that he may not be able to get it done. This story hasn't changed from when it was widely assumed he was gonna commit to LSU on the spot a few months ago. In fact most people assume he will flip if LSU does offer, so I'm not trying to bad mouth the kid at all. I don't know the specifics of his situation.
Still, the "magic" you're talking about is typically having someone on their case 24/7 and someone at the HS telling them exactly what to take and when. Some kids just don't have that available to them. It's also kind of telling to me that he committed somewhere right as most schools are wrapping up the spring semester.
If the Ole Miss staff steps up and helps him get qualified then they deserve all the credit in the world, and I won't even be mad if he sticks with his commit.

Good pick up. Why will he never play D1?? If he couldn't qualify out of high school wouldn't he just go Juco and eventually make his way to a D1 school?

That's certainly an avenue if you don't qualify out of high school but I think he was hinting more at him having a focus on school problem than anything.

The Ole Miss coaching staff does not feel like his a major grade risk.

He's not even really from Louisiana, and he's a grade risk, can't play in their system.
Posted on 5/9/16 at 8:34 pm to Quicksilver
we know why Ole Miss isn't concerned about grade risks
