Let me help.

4* DE from Baton Rouge, offers from Southern Cal, Texas A&M, Texas, Tennessee, and a few other blue bloods. Any reason for him not having an LSU offer, shows that he was being recruited by Cam Cameron and Ed Orgeron, but no offer

I don't know why LSU hasn't offered yet. Coach O visits him often and he's been on campus multiple times.

I understand why they do that with local kids but it's annoying as hell. Everyone knows he's going to get an offer but now LSU is going to have to fight like hell to get him when they could have offered a couple months ago and gotten a commitment.

I dont think it's so set in stone. We've offered a bunch of LA kids, so it's not like we hold off on everyone.

I think the issue they have with Bryan Jones is in our new 3-4 he's a bit of tweener between OLB and DE. Also he's not athletic enough to play ILB. He doesnt quite have the pass rushing capabilities right now they've seen to be that rush OLB nor the strength to play with his hand down at DE in the 3-4. They want to see him camp so they can evaluate whether they feel he can fit in the defense or not, I get it.

Yeah I know it's just aggravating seeing good players from BR not getting an offer. When I read Jones committed I had visions of Brandon Bolden running wild on LSU.

Brandon Bolden

Funny how things work out. Bolden came to Ole Miss because we wanted him at RB and LSU wanted him as a LB. LSU had a guy during the same time(can't remember the name) that went to LSU to play RB while we wanted him to play LB. Then both went on to play RB for the Patriots.

Thanks for the in sight. Just wondering so you think he is offered if LSU had a 4-2-5 or 4-3?

I think he'd likely have an offer if we were still base 4-3 yeah. He just seems like a 4-3 DE. Being in a 3-4 you really want that elite pass rusher who can stand up and do it for that rush OLB spot (and his ability there isn't as far up on the board as others we're after) and big strong guys at DE which he's just not very big at the moment. I think they see him as a possible 3-4 DE but want to see the size and strength increase a lot. Fact is though we've got a good bit of offers out there for the DL and feel very confident in that group (Buggs, Wilson, Mathis). The guys we're looking at for NT only are Shelvin who is committed and Valentine. Wilson could also play NT or DE in the 3-4.

Jones recently measured up at 6'4.5 237 at the opening New Orleans and during OL/DL matchups he didn't really show great pass rushing ability. So he's a bit light in the pants right now without much strength to get an offer as a 3-4 DE but didn't flash the pass rushing ability they wanted to see either for a guy his size currently. They will certainly monitor him closely to keep an eye on but they also dont want to chase off some of the other guys we've already made offers too because they feel confident they can land the majority of them.

Here is the video of the New Orleans opening 1 on 1s OL/DL:
LINK

At the 1:38 mark Bryan got 2 reps against Mikhail Hill, he got physically dominated, didn't show much speed/quickness either. I think if Jones exhibited better pass rushing ability, he'd have an offer from us as a 3-4 OLB considering his size at 6'4.5 237. Mathis is in there quite a few times who is the type of guy we are looking for at the 3-4 DE role. He was 6'4 287 at that same event. Shelvin our NT commit is in there too, and he did that video at 369 pounds

P.S. Alex Leatherwood is a scary dude. When he gets his hands on you it's like trying to get through a mobile brick wall. I hope we can flip him because playing against him for 3 years is going to suck. Immediate LT type of starter.

Im really doubting this sticks for Ole Miss. He was told by Coach O and Aranda that they wanted him to camp to see if he fit into the 3-4 well enough to offer. They werent sure if he was an OLB or should but on 30 more pounds and play DE.

The weird part is he has never been on Ole Miss's campus for a visit. I think this is more of a holding place commit at the moment. I like him as a Rush OLB for LSU but again he needs to camp to get an offer.

LSU hasn't offered? Wow we should do that ASAP. If Ole Miss hangs on to him, they are getting a good one.

Looks like he has good size. Pretty nice offer sheet.

Hope the Rebs hang on to him.
